How has your head been today MW? It sounds like you suffer from them quite badly, i hope it has eased ((( )))
Your conversion sounds fantastic, will be like having a new house!
How lovely to hear about the kindness of others, the book sounds great.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Tried to multiquote there in response to you all but couldn't work out how to do it!
OH was an :A and decided *not* to get pizzas last night but came home and made sausage stew instead from stuff we already had. We also ordered our bathroom stuff, total cost £580 which I am pleased with.
Had to take more co-codomal after last lot wore off - result was woke up feeling like I'd been smacked in the face with a spade this morning! Had a study day to attend, so had breakfast at home with DD before walk to school - also meant saved £2 on cost of breakfast club :money:!
Couldn't take leftovers to conference to heat up and no lunch provided so spent £3.70 on eat soup and bread, from pocket money. Yum.
Bumped into some old colleagues at the event and was lovely to catch up with them.
Finished early, so hot footed it down to Lidl to purchase some of the flannelette sheets they have in this week - one king and one single for DD. Cashier rang both through as a king - luckily I noticed and got him to re-do it, saving me being overcharged by £1. They are £6 and £5 respectively, 100% cotton and feel v v soft. OH asked why I didn't get more at that price! :rotfl:. Am going to put ours on tonight and see how it feels before rushing out for another. We have kept our heating off despite the chill, and am hoping to get through to mid-Oct with it off. Our winter duvet is now on the bed, and I've been wearing a chunky wool poncho my mum knitted for me around the house to stay warm. DD has extra duvet on her bed, and we've ordered her a really cute hot water bottle http://www.amazon.co.uk/Knitted-White-Spots-Water-Bottle/dp/B001I3SHW6/ref=sr_1_16?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285703639&sr=8-16 to wrap up and give as one of her birthday presents. We've also got a candle burning in our old fireplace grate (which we can't have actual fires in, mores the pity).
Other news today: got 2 x Schweppes water bottles for £1 for 2 free swims, got GLL to edit their website so people in my borough can actually sign up for a card for their children to swim for a quid (had been missed off!), bought a Monsoon smock shirt dress for £2.99 from a charity shop, along with a vintage leather Pierre Cardin bag for £3.99 which was meant as a friend's present, but might have to keep as is sooooo cute!!
Anyway - thanks for the sympathy everyone - the good news is whilst my head has been a bit sore today I have not had another migraine. I am however shattered so am going to go to bed now. Am giving a presentation at work tomorrow, but can't find the strength to prepare, will just have to wing it.

Today's session went well, all enjoyed and I learnt lots from other members of the team. Bought milk and biscuits for tea breaks. Have had a cold sore come up though , get them when stressed. Have birthday drinks planned on Saturday and am gutted that will have a cold sore
, you would think I'm used to them by now, but not at all. Bought some of those not so invisible patches to try, and then later saw asda had the cream reduced so bought one of those too. Total spent £10.
Signed DD up for free swimming, for those in relevant London boroughs see http://www.gll.org/swimming/free-swimming-16-and-under.asp :j
Payday tomorrow :j Hoping to bring main account back up to the magic 1K level, and put another £250 into savings. We are a bit ahead of the game for October as have paid for DD's birthday (trip for 5 to Legoland with work discount, not that she knows that!), and her presents. OH gets paid on Fri :j
BTW the Lidl sheet was fab, really cosy. Will cope with one though until next time they have them back in! Another early night for me, at least I have new sheet to look forward to :rotfl:!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

OH wants me to post this :rotfl: - one of the ideas I 'gleaned' from earthgirl's diary is to boil the kettle only once - and put all excess hot water into a flask. OH picked up a few weeks ago a £5 flask from Lidl which at 1.5litres can hold a LOT of hot water. We now only boil the kettle once in the evening, and get several hot drinks out of it, saving us having to boil the kettle at least another two times.
OH thought I was mad when I started this last week (I think he called me a 'tightwad') - now he is a total convert. He also likes the fact that in advert breaks you don't have to wait for the kettle to boil :rotfl:! On that note, definitely off to bed!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Me too! Off to bed, that is. Goodnight all, have an MSE day tomorrow,
Best wishes, SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Glad to know someone is reading my witterings!
After a very barren 2 months of not selling anything on Amazon, am delighted that have sold my most expensive book yet - £27 after fees :j! Need to take some off for p&p, but even still, a good result. Hope to get it in the post this evening.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

I have just sold ANOTHER Amazon book , £17.12 after fees. I have no idea what is going on after such a quiet spell!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

well done on the amazon sales- I do find it tends to come in fits and starts! maybe the start of a new term/uni term is getting everyone looking for things?
must relist a few books of my own on that note!
ps like the filling up the flask idea- at the moment if I boil the kettle I add the water to do washing up (and there is at least enough washing up everytime I boil the kettle somehow!) but I like the idea of instant cuppas...must see if we have a flask or contraption of some kind that would work!

I agree with TYO about the Amazon sales, definitely better sales when people back to uni. It was the start of a new term that prompted me to list my old books that I no longer need since graduating. Brilliant prices for your books there MW!
Although I'm almost sure this week is Freshers week so hopefully there will be more sales when they actually knuckle down to do some work!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
One of the books is in the loft, and I need OH to reach the hatch as I'm too short! He however has gone straight out from work, so will have to ask him to do it when gets in - he's going to love me! Other one - the heavier one - bought envelope for £1.29, and the buyer lives not that far from a tube stop I go past, so going to try and deliver directly tomorrow :j will save me quite a few quid in postage! A bit more milk purchased but apart from that a cheap day with no unneccessary spends! Took some soup out of freezer for lunch.
Came home to Paul card which can register and get free breakfast, and a free tea bag for my birthday :rotfl: from Yorkshire teas - and I thought they'd forgotten!
A more relaxed day today, tried mindful walking on way to and from work which seemed to help, and tried to be more relaxed/do less with DD today which worked out well too.
Got screened out of all survey invites.Would like to raise more money, but am trying to 'eat one elephant at a time' - in an attempt to destress. Am focusing on the decluttering and getting ready for the loft conversion as well as my health. From what I've been reading, clutter is a major stress factor for overload, so these two goals work well together. Anything else is a bonus.
Watching some telly - including trinny and susannah, bed by 10 tonight.
EDIT: OH just came in before going out, and opened the loft. He's a legend.
