okay you're on!! morning and night it is....
does almost 5pm count as night?...:)
silly really as my ability to pay off my mortgage will not change within 24hours- unless of course I won the lottery...which would of course require me to actually PLAY the lottery ...0 -
yes, let's start tomorrow so we can have one last crazy day! :rotfl:Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Ok, my last post of the day, and no more than 2 visits tomorrow *gulp*
Had focus group this evening, £50 incentive happily received and put in hedgehog :j (our equivalent of the mortgage pig!)
Didn't start til after 8, and was two hours long, so had a 99p coffee from Pret and sat outside people watching, it was great fun and the sort of thing I normally only do on holiday! Some small extra spends: 38p on value ibuprofen from boots for headache, 39p for raisin poppets for snack. Wolfed down sandwiches at focus group as free lunch!
This morning found local shop which sells Schweppes water for 49p, so now can get a swim even cheaperOH used one yesterday and he was very impressed. Bought one. That is all money I have spent today, did pitta and hummus lunch again from fridge to make sure didn't have to buy lunch.
Got my first RISI book too, looking forward to reading that :j
ETA: forgot to say, got 50p phone credit for free by picking up abandoned empty sprite bottle with label on - I am such a cheapskate :rotfl:
DD away now with her dad til next week, I will miss herbut she will be having fun. OH and I both took her to holiday scheme today, she loves it when we both do.
Dilemma: have just been invited out for dinner this Fri with friends who rarely have a babysitter. However, as we are £2k short on the loft, and with lots of other things on this weekend, I really don't want to have to go and spend more money on food and drink for me and OH, plus could do with a quiet evening. Think I will decline - do I sound like a big tight meanie?Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

I get the impression they want to go out, to celebrate the rare occurence of babysitting. Am going to see if can think of something cheap, and perhaps me and OH can each take out of our pocket money rather than joint account, if enough there. Still doubt will spend less than £50 between us  *ponders some more*. Seems crazy to put so much effort into making £50, only to spend it on impromptu night out when not feeling great. But also want to have some form of life *ponders further*
Just a short update, I am preparing for my tour in a few hours, then meeting a friend for cheap eats in Islington this evening. Hoping to spend no more than £15 out of pocket money, and to be home by 9.30pm for early night.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hello there,
If they're good friends, then its going to be more about the company than the food - especially if it's a spur of the moment, last minute kind of arrangement. On that basis, couldnt you suggest somewhere like Pizza Express and use one of their £10 offers for pizza, drink and starter? I was very hesitant about doing this with friends recently, but raised it tentatively and it turned out that she felt just the same - ended us with all of us using our vouchers with glee.
There are all sorts of print out vouchers on the site here, Strada do good ones too, though you have to register

Thanks Queen Bee - totally agree that vouchers are the way forward with good friends, however they are not really bezza mates, and the fact that one of them alone earns a six figure salary puts me off a little even suggesting it - am racking my brain for somewhere cheap and unusual... no point in going, if I'm going to spend the whole night worrying about what the bill will come to!
Tour went well today, apart from torrential rain and thunder during talk, meant had to shout due to din from roof, so a bit of a sore throat now! Met up with a true bezza mate for dinner, had a great burrito and freshly squeezed juice and hours of uninterrupted chat in a laid back cafe in Angel. Total spent: £12 inc servicemy perfect night out, apart from being so tired I almost fell asleep standing up on the tube!
Second RISI book came, a Richard Yates which I am REALLY looking forward to reading. Off to catch up on diaries, and get some sleep. Night all!
Have made it on day 1 of the twice a day detox, will check on tyo in a minute to see how she has coped (hopefully not suffering too much from withdrawal symptoms!)Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

hi mw!
no withdrawals...but I confess I may have done a quick early afternoon check (no posting tho so does it still count??? :rotfl:)
glad you had a good dinner out- I agree about the vouchers , most of my friends are in a similar position as me money wise and more than happy to do it on the cheap! but when you know money is no object (or not in the same way) it can be daunting to suggest- but Id say go for it, you have nothing to lose... everyone has different circumstances and friends will understand- we have had people saving up for various things; houses, babies, weddings ... and its understandable people dont wanna spend huge amounts when there are things to pay off (like the loft!) could you join them for drinks later?
anyway, hope you find a happy medium of sorts...off to update my own thread now (only one post today does that redeem me any kind of bonus points??)
ooo yeah and will also look into RISI as could do with that!0 -
Quick post as have lots on at work today - will try and catch up with diaries tonight/tomorrow. tyo - I did try and post a comment on your thread yesterday, but internet connection at museum store rubbish, so it got lost , the gist was I think you've come to some very sensible decisions about financial priorities, and well done you.
Did go on MSE three times yesterday, that was because I started work at 720 am  in the hope of knocking off at 330pm. However, had to stay for some deliveries, and didn't finish til gone 5 - by which point I just waited for OH to pick me up at 6pm. 11 hours at the store was a bit much!
Doctors test came back clear, so infection has cleared up, although still feel a bit rubbish. Am hoping lots of sleep and vitamins will perk me up, it is probably just post infection lull. Did get over 8 hours sleep last night, feel much better for that
Have a third RISI book to send off, and have just started reading the first book I received the other day.
In post yesterday had two whisky glasses won as prize (will give to friend), and a free small (75ml) size shampoo and conditioner set from Pantene, perfect for swimming wash bag, so clean hair for free! :T
No news about what the plans are for tonight, so not sure if it is going to happen. Could do without it to be honest.
Put £200 into savings a few days ago, and £2,100 due to be transferred today/tomorrow :j. Also realised OH has £5k overdraft facility, so we will use that for the loft if needed.
Busy day at work, so about to crack on. Have a good day, anyone that is reading.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

thanks mw
yep it does feel like the best decision at the moment, I need to focus on what really matters right now and what I "can" do ...not what is a pipe dream and puts more pressure on myself (with the fact I have no income with which to OP!) but I shall still probably lurk from time to time for inspiration!
I think three times in a day is allowed! ... ;o) I think it keeps up the inspiration to keep going at this!
hope you are back to full health soon and get some rest in the meantime
