  • You have done major works in your house and still paid off an extra £11,222.99, you are mortgage over payer extraordinaire. Some months are spendy, others are tight. I would enjoy the next few months, you can cut down on the entertaining monies when you've got the baby you won't be able to go out! So after the baby will be very money saving. Also you will NEED that camera for lovely family photos.................

How old is you daughter, does she like Barbie? I have some hand made clothing looking for a good home I slightly over-made for my god-daughter, she will have enough to start a boutique and I can thin things down a bit.

Does Mr MW have adverts on his blog? He could make a few pennies that way.

  • Hey mw
Ditto what toots has said (apart from the offer of barbie clothes I have none of those! :p) I think when I have seen people on here able to be MF in a matter of months or even a year, really scrimp and save and make do, it sometimes makes me feel like I should be doing much better and not have so many big/unexpected bills...

however, having only had a mortgage 4 years and living where I do even 10 years to clear it would be a huge achievement!!

Im not saying go mad with spending, but it is a balance to get it right in the long term- brakes is about safety for all of you, camera- about mrmw , is there anything he could do to put towards the extra money? his own fun money? or amazon/ebaying? plus xmas contributions perhaps? ...

still aching from the shred, may stick to exercise bike/walk today and re-attempt tomorrow!:D am planning on getting to the stage of doing it every other day- or at least 3 times a week!:rotfl:

Also completely agree with Toots. I was amazed we managed financially last month as my maternity pay was terrible but we literally spent no money with having a newborn!

My sickness was very different in my pregnancies. DD i was sick 8-18 weeks most days and some evenings. DS i felt sick from about 6-14 weeks but only threw up twice. It was like constant car sickness though. The xmas fayre sounded like a lot of fun, I can't wait to go to some this year. Well done on your appreciated efforts too.

  • Thanks all, it really isn't the end of the earth, I just felt very low that evening so appreciated you all commenting.

Toots - you're right, I have done well on the MF payments, and I need to recognise that - even if I want to do more. And I don't want rubbish family portraits now do I ;). Thanks so much for the offer of the barbie clothes :j - DD does have some barbies, likes dressing things up so I'm sure she'd love the outfits if they're still on offer! I'll pm you my details, if that's ok.

Peonie - no ads yet, he is early days on his blog and I think he needs to get more followers / work on his content a bit before he goes for ads. Plus he is on wordpress, can you even have adverts on that?

tyo - I think you're right, reading the diaries can be a double edged sword - both motivating, and also making me feel dissatisfied with what I have done! I think Mr MW does rarely spend on himself, and selling his camera was one way of raising money towards it. I will count it as his Xmas present, and ask him to help me with some ebaying. Keep going with the shred, it is hard but you will get really quick results. Just wondering, any news on the flat sale?

CathT - sounds like I'll cope then no matter how bad my finances are with the little one! My sickness with DD was more like what you had with your DS, it is not as bad this time.

hi eg, will try and take it easy - you too.

    Seeing midwife this morning :j!

Little bit upset as have been classified as high risk pregnancy, due to history of migraines, kidney infections, depression, pregnancy induced hypertension - and having a different father to DD! How the heck does that make a difference - I'd be more worried if I was with the same partner!

It means I need to see a doctor at 22 weeks, and also the neonatal mental health team for an assessment. Am hoping both will just refer me back to the community mid wife team.

Or bless you.... I guess they just do this to cover their own backs as they have cocked up so many times in the past where people genuinely needed more support.....

Try not to worry too much, I'm sure everything will be perfect x
  • The high risk thing is just a precautionary numbers game thing. They did it to me for similar reasons. Didn't stop me getting 2 x home births though.

The different father thing is boswelox.

eta realise I'm saying THING a lot!
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
  • Hello,

I agree with the above, they just cover their backs. All three of mine were apparently high risk on the basis that I am only five feet tall! Even after I had the first easily and naturally, eight pounds, I still had to go through the aggro with the others. But better safe than sorry.

    Take it easy,
