Thanks cha, I am thinking Weston Park, and around the forum I hear there are lots of small quirky boutiques and vintage shops, so that sounds great. I'm also thinking of afternoon tea at Leopold Hotel, and fireworks (although I can't find any displays listed at the minute). To be honest that'll be enough as I'm still not feeling great. Had today off work too, just been dozing, and watching Tales from a Green Valley which is perfect duvet day viewing! I must be ill as I am happy to stay at home, when I'm well I can't wait to get out and go for a walk/to the charity shops!

Have had my £4 refund from debenhams, had to chase them for item returned in Jan!! As this was an effort, am forwarding it for an OP. Have also spent £5K on stuff for the house/baby - mentally at least!! as part of the paypal win a £5K wish list competition. I secretly have VERY expensive tastes and now anything else will seem like a let down!

Going to catch up on The Slap on iplayer, pack for tomorrow, and use some mince up before I go away.Early night definitely needed!

Also, spoke to my housemate about the insurance and she was fine about it. Worrying about nothing as usual!

  • The best one in Sheffield will be after dark. I've only been once before, but there is a good display, along with music and stalls. http://www.britevents.com/whats-on/yorkshire/sheffield/after-dark/343952/

Or this one is Rotherham, but near Meadowhall, Sheffield J34, and not as dear.

Brinsworth Parish Council - Bonfire and Firework Display
Brinsworth Playing Fields (Childrens Fairground rides)
Bonfire lit at 6.45 p.m. and Firework Display 7.00 pm
Any further details contact: Mr Peter Wilkinson - 01709 364199

    Our local one is tonight.

Have fun anyway, and I think you will enjoy it. I would see the peace and winter gardens if you can. They are not very big.
  • Enjoy the fireworks mw and hope you feel better soon :)
glad friend was fine with the insurance stuff- I always find I worry myself silly over stuff too which never turns out to be anything to worry about!
Aha another secret frugalite (I think I may have just made up a word!) with expensive tastes ... Ill let you in on a secret.... me too!! (shhhh...dont tell anyone!) I find its a bit like dieting, Im either really strict with myself (thrift wise) or lose the plot and blow money on pointless expensive stuff I dont really need! spending 5K if only in my head would be nice tho! ;)
  • Am back now, had a really good weekend. Was lovely to see my sister, and tell her my news - she is really happy for us both. And she definitely thinks I'm showing too - I'm only 7weeks +2 days :eek:! Looked in some of the vintage/charity shops and I bought a lovely pair of light leather boots for £15, just need reheeling.

We tried to go to Leopold Hotel for cream tea, but was full of a wedding party and really overpowering perfume, so we ended up in john lewis cafe instead. Sheffield is a bit of a strange place, has some grand imposing buildings but the town centre felt quite dead and deprived, lots of empty shops near where we were staying. We ended up having dinner in a bistro called the london cafe, I had devonshire lamb which was beautiful and my sis had a great steak and chips. Really nice meal out, and for the quality I thought it was really well priced.

Felt much better yesterday, although today I went downhill and ended up huddled in the station bar at Sheffield with a blanket over me for several hours (until I could get on my booked train!). I saw my nephew for a yummy brunch today at browns cafe, which was a pleasant surprise as I thought he was going to be away for the weekend. They were doing 2 for 1 big breakfasts, so guess what we had ;). I bought my winter tights from primarni, but felt queasy so had to abandon the planned museum excursion.

We stayed in the premier inn, it was a decent room and comfy bed but we got woken up by a couple effing and blinding and threatening to kill each other in the middle of the night (and at about 9am this morning). I actually thought he might assault her, but there was no-one to call to complain/get involved and it sounded like he could turn aggressive if we got involved. If he had done something obviously I would have called the police, but luckily it didn't get to that stage. I mentioned it on the way out, and they gave a full and immediate refund! Meant I have £25 personal spend money back I was not expecting! Excellent customer service, although I do think they should have someone to call in the middle of the night in that situation.

Have come home to mortgage balance - as at 01/11 is £177,146.56 :j:j:j! sooo close to the £176xxxs!

And also have had my jersey arrive to make my stretchy dress, and my scan date has come through too - Tues 13 Dec!

We always used to have our university conference accommodation at the premier inn in sheffield I know it well. Last time I stayed there I thought I had a funny tummy, felt like it was moving, found out a little while later it probably was as I was about 14 weeks pregnant:D

It is very deprived around there though, lots of cranes I remember, boarded up shops, dirty pavements. Parts of Sheffield are lovely though it's supposed to be the 'greenest' city in the country

Glad you had a good weekend. The queasiness can be quite unpleasant can't it and I found my symptoms kicked in much earlier second time around. Your mortgage balance is coming down quite nicely and I have a feeling you will overtake me despite my balance being much lower! It's great now you have your scan date, something to really look forward to.

Hope the queasiness settles, I think I ended up revealing pregnancy to colleagues at a similar stage as I couldn't hide symptoms and it was also important to do risk assessment in my line of work.

Glad you had a good time up north, mw! Sickness is the pits isn't it, although hearing about it is making me feel weirdly broody again!

Great news on the scan date (oh yeah, and the insurance and ops :p), seems not far away!
    Updating soon...

How funny sarahevie! how many weeks were you when you finally twigged you were pregnant? My sister found out with her last one when she was 27 weeks :eek::eek:! I think next time we will do the 'burbs' as they look greener, there are some excellent restaurants there, and decent charity shops!

CathT - I am nowhere near as sick and tired as I was with DD which is making me really nervous. I'd read morning sickness was the sign of a strong pregnancy, so a little worried - but my sister said it is what they tell people with morning sickness to make them feel better! I might need to reveal all soon as at times I need to handle large objects, and not planning to lift anything for quite some time now!

courgette - you must be broody if morning sickness is making you feel like another baby :rotfl:! The date seems like FOREVER, but it'll probably go quick. I now have a midwife booking in appointment for next Thursday too :).

£5.97 OP today from Ama$on payment. Plus posted another book sale today (one I thought I was going to be stuck with for a VERY long time)! I've also claimed for that delayed tube journey before the claim period closes. Only 2 sleeps til OH comes home :j!

Hope the sickness passes, i was really sick with DD but none at all with DS, you might be having a boy!! think your sis it right its just said to the ones who are suffering!!

An old work colleagus of mine got to 29 weeks with out knowing, she had IBS and doc said her swollen stomach and sickness was this, she went numerous times and was told the same even though he never felt her tummy, until she saw a locum (SP!?) who did feel her stomach, referred her for a scan but told her he thought it was a abdominal cyst!!! lol... doesnt give you much faith in the NHS!! she then had to have a emergency section at 35 weeks so was only "pregnant" for 6 weeks!!

29 weeks, but had been thinking for a while I *might* be, thought the docs would say I was 12 weeks so was shocked. She was late though so was *pregnant* a while.

I was 12 week when a doctor confirmed with DD2, I've never done a pregnancy test, prefer old style missed periods - don't know why but think its a defence mechanism against miscarriage, well 'I might never have been pregnant anyway'. It's worked for me:D
