Glad you had a good holiday mw - possibly not the best time to tell you if you have no money but elf have a 50% off sale till bank holiday monday (tomorrow) you may have got an email if youve ordered from them before or else I will pm you the code!
so far I have resisted..... as Ive still got loads left over from last time! :rotfl:0 -
Yes, thanks for the reminder. I do need to order some stuff - DD has taken a liking to my kabuki brush and having seen jo frost's extreme parenting where she used a brush and sponge to stop thumb sucking I think it will be worth getting.
What would you recommend from your stash? Any product/shade recommendations?Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Your holiday sounds great. I keep on thinking about getting a tent, but the middle of the night trips to the toilet and the state they might be in keep putting me off.
We went to Wales as well, and on the way back stopped off at Aberaeron (not sure if I spelt that right), it was quite touristy but beautiful so I can understand why so many people flock there.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

good luck - I am resisting as I REALLY dont need ay more stuff! :rotfl:0 -
arrggh tyo, just spent £15.45 on elf!!! Made up of last £10 from pocket money, and money borrowed from next month's pocket money!
However, it has meant i can try some of the things I've heard raved about for only a few pennies. 75p for a eyeshadow quad! Makeupalley was really useful to compare reviews and swatches, and I've ordered some of the things that scored highly in the beauty steals book. I was actually fairly restrained, could easy have spent much much more if I had it in the account in the first place!
*continues muttering to herself to justify make-up purchase*
OH said 'I thought you said you'd spent your year's worth on make-up the other month'.. I do not recall saying that, and if I did, I should have kept my mouth shut
.
Am a bit strung out this evening, so will post more about plans tomorrow. They are not THAT exciting! Meanwhile I am going to bed to start catching up on the original 'the killing' on iplayer.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hello,
Glad you had a lovely break and also look forward to hearing plans. I did lots of long term planning in my head whille I was away too, I think being away from home gets you thinking about life and the universe in a more focused way. Now we just need to put the plans into practice!
Squirrel:jPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Will have a bash at explaining where my head is at and plans.
OH and I both LOVED being back in Wales. Being outdoors everyday was fantastic, and we were blown away several times by the landscape and scenery. If I had the money I would definitely move there tomorrow. OH however when asked was clearly much more reluctant, and clearly sees it as something we are working towards in 15 years or so time. This surprised me, especially after the chats we had about buying that house a few months ago, I thought we were reading from the same page. We had a bit of a heated discussion about it, basically OH told me it wasn't important and I was v upset that we were so far apart on this issue. We are not in the position to make this move anyway now, so in some ways he is right, however the point is it IS important to me, that is why I am working so hard to be MF. I think about it everyday. He wants to retire with a very good income and not have to work at all i.e. pension age. I would quite happily do it on a shoestring and move sooner - with an income from renting out this house, but finding ways to bring in money here and there. The idea of waiting another 15-20 years depresses me immensely, and I did have a cry over it, felt like my dreams were being shattered right in front of my eyes. Don't mean to be overly dramatic but that's how I felt. At least we do have a few years to try and find some sort of compromise.
We were in a very welsh speaking part of Wales, and I bought a cd for the car and started practicing basic welsh. I really enjoyed it, and the response from other people when I greeted them in my (shaky) welsh was so positive. I have therefore decided to enrol on a welsh course, partly because I just want to, and also because it makes me feel closer to my dream of retiring to wales. I was about to do the city lit course in London (£112 per term), but have now stumbled across the london welsh centre which is just around the corner from work. This has a much more community feel to it, and has a lot more to offer. As well as being cheaper (£125 for the year + £55 membership), it has a members bar, organises social events and also has weekly free welsh speaking gatherings in the bar right after my welsh class, so hoping should be able to learn even quicker with all that practice.
If any of your lovely readers have Cwrs Mynediad or however you spell it (South Wales version) lying around at home and would like to donate to a very eager museum worker it would be much appreciated. Am practicing asking the universe for what I need, as you can tell!
I also realised how stressed I am, and OH and I are going to work together on practicing stress management techniques, and I want to do more yoga. We have ordered a yoga for stress relief DVD and a stress management book from Ama$on, and are going to set aside time to do this, as well as talking to each other more about our days.
So in short I will:
- enrol on welsh course
- practice 10 mins of welsh a day
- work on stress management techniques with OH
- practice more yoga for stress relief
I still plan to keep attacking that mortgage, and £175K is definitely still my target for this year.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hang on to your dreams there MW. My experience is that things change and your OH's imagination of life as it will be in 15 to 20 years time is very unlikely to be what happens. However I do think it is VERY important to really enjoy what you have now as part of life's journey it is very destructive to be having a tough time in order to get to a dream in 5,10,15,20 years time.
Learning Welsh and being less stressed sound good to me, getting the mortgage paid down to buy a holiday home, sounds good to me, enjoying life with your daughter and OH seems priceless to me.0
