I think you do very well to save that amount each month as it is amazing how expensive it is to anything in London, especially with children. You are doing really well.
SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks Squirrel, I suppose the fact that I am not satisfied with my current OP situation at least motivates me to keep doing more!
ETA: Just saw how soon your MF date is - less than 2 years! Wow! That must be really motivating.

Hello all! Had a great weekend in Wales with friends and family. Am pleased payday has arrived, and that my pocket money has been topped up. I have already spent quite a chunk of it though - £35. I need to keep an eye on this as I have gone overdrawn on that account in recent months, and they charge 50p a day to use the arranged overdraft! So I will use this diary to keep a track of my pocket money for the next month or so.
remaining pocket money £115/£150

Had good night out yesterday with friends in local restaurant. Felt like being abroad, it was portuguese tapas and the door was kept open. £40 from joint account, a lovely treat for us both.
£8 spent from pocket money on round of drinks for colleagues.
remaining pocket money £107/£150
OH is planning to get me a bike for my forthcoming birthday. I noticed Lidl had their cycle gear in, so bought cycle jacket, top and trousers, along with a puncture repair and some glasses wipes to try to deal with the fact that my glasses appear to have make up on them permanently. £33 spent on joint account.
Am also a bit concerned that have put on 5 lbs this week - time to stop eating and start exercising!
Going to see bridesmaids this evening with friend, just have one tour to get through first!

Mortgage as at 1 Aug 2011: £181,076.57 :j:j:j!
OPs to date (5 Aug): £8430.59
Savings in interest made: £13,091
Shaved: 1 year 10 months off mortgage
Wonder if I could get it to into 170s by next month?
We also have £5150.80 in our savings account, £300 in my fd regular savers account (finally opened it, thanks Linz for the advice!) and £1785.98 in our FD mortgage account! So that equals £7236.78 in savings:D:D. OH and I said we'd get up to £8K in savings and then start OPing hard, so need to discuss further with him.
We do have the final payment due to our builders later in the month of £1200+VAT, but am going to check carefully as they owe us some money back off that.
Did shopping on way home, £55 spent which is amazing as we haven't done a proper shop for 3 weeks now, and are entertaining tomorrow night. Planning a mexican feast, so need to go and start boiling some pork belly for tamarind and chilli infused pork! We still have a lot more than I thought in the cupboards though, so when get back from holiday will try the storecupboard challenge for a few weeks.
Well done tyo on the shred - I plan to do a bit of that later in the weekend. Up for a challenge to see if we can exercise both days this weekend?Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
