The last migraine I had when I was at home so just went to bed, the two before that came on just after hour after I started work so just had to go home :( which in itself is a miserable experience when I can't see properly and have that migraine feeling of total body weakness/dizziness. I often feel like I'll pass out but I have only once, so just try and ignore it. It is also quite emotional, I just want to hide away and not have anyone fuss over me.

Keeping up with the spending diary which is good because we are spending money like water at the minute! Since last post have spent:
    • £10 at charity shop (only went in to return £7 worth of clothes that I wouldn't wear :rotfl:), made up of £1 pair of cropped jeans and £4 Craghopper trousers which you unzip leg and turn into shorts (house), £1 book for DD (Lion boy - house) and £4 books for me (personal)
    • £15.30 on lunch and cake for myself and intern. It was my last day with her, and she has been helping me for last 9 weeks. I did use a voucher for 2 for 1 too ;)(personal)
    • £0.65 on paper notebook to use as spending diary when away next 2 weeks as won't have any computer access (personal)
    • £0.69 on cough sweets for DD (house).
    • £9.77 on crackers and bottle of wine for friend's dinner. I made the mistake of going into Waitr0se, who had an english wine I've had in a restaurant before and loved. Thought about it for a bit, but decided that was what I wanted, even though it was £8.50 a bottle . I normally expect to pay around £5 or so, but it was delicious as I remembered and friend really appreciated it ;). Got 2 for 1 crackers too which am carrying around for emergency food snacks (personal)

The meal at friend's house was lovely and long overdue. We have been trying to arrange it since feb, but between the 3 of us we have had to cancel several times, me due to a few migraines. It was a really good evening!

Officially on hol now :j:j:j, has been a v busy week at work trying to get on top of things so feel very ready for a break.

Off to Eastbourne to see airshow and visit OH's family today. I have baked two german friendship cakes to take along, made with the sourdough culture my mum gave me and I've managed not to kill :rotfl:.

Have a good day everyone :D

Am sooo furious with OH!!! Emptying the washing machine, not only had he put a red silk dress of mine in a normal wash, but also a handknitted jumper my mum made for DD. It has now shrunk and felted :(. This is not the first time he has done this, he put a silk shirt of mine from all saints through a normal wash and it never recovered. I keep asking him to either check or leave my stuff in the laundry basket, he snaps and says he knows about fabrics as he deals with them as part of his job. And now this happens!!!

(this is the bit where you give me well meaning advice and I calm down and become a normal person again, rather than the current ball of fury!)

Any of that nice wine left ?

Sorry, not helpful. Errr I would be equally furious & point out that he clearly doesn't know about fabrics ... this is probably why I'm single ;)
Cold comfort after the event, but in future how about having a small separate laundry bin for delicates ?

    Breathe very deeply

Can't think of any advice, well-meaning or otherwise, to add to Lula-Hula's excellent suggestion of a separate delicates basket.
Want to send you a big hug, though.

    to annoying dhs!

No suggestions that haven't been mentioned about what to do in future but regarding the felted handknit: a hot water bottle cover? Tea cosy? Frame it in a box frame? You culd make something really beautiful with it that you could keep for much longer than it would have fitted DD for. Not the point I know, just trying to see the bright side :)

Thanks all, we currently have two laundry baskets - one for whites and one for blacks/coloureds but think need a delicates bag or something too.The knit is a bolero, so quite small to make into something but could be nice for a smaller baby or make some little mitts from it. Lula-Hula - sounds like we are as straight-talking as each other, which is why I sometimes dream about being single again. Like the whole of yesterday afternoon. And sadly any nice wine doesn't last very long in my house :rotfl:!

FINALLY made up with OH about 7pm last night, feel much better about the whole situation now.

Doing some rectifying of accounts before go away. Have budgeted £40 a day for us, so transferred £335 over from savings to current to have the right amount waiting for us. Looking at our fd account, we have enough for next mortgage payment, standard OP and the savings DD, so OPed the extra £285.98 :j! We still have £4,815 in savings - even with the £1200 + VAT to pay to builders, am confident we have enough there for time being.

Still a few jobs to do before we go away this morning, so need to crack on. Have a lovely few weeks everyone; if any of you have any religious beliefs please pray for good weather the next two weeks!

MW, just to let you know my TCB claim for missing Post Office CC has now tracked. Took about 4 weeks I think.

Hope you are feeling better about the laundry situation. I have been with my DH nearly 10 years and he does sooo much (house wise) that annoys me - he won't change now though!

I am indeed reading this on my return, and it was a lovely holiday, thanks eg.

I don't even really know where to start... we had our first week just outside crickhowell in mid wales. We were early bird campers at the Green Man festival, so started with a few days exploring the area - a day mooching in Abergavenny when the weather was bad, and a beautiful walk up to Table Mountain when the weather was kinder. We had a couple of friends come for the festival, so had three days of music, mostly sun and creative fun. There was lots of performances and crafts for children, so DD made bunting, a fancy dress skirt and generally played with kids and bubbles. Sat and Sunday night we kept her up, and I loved exploring the site with her, we had a real laugh together. One of her favourite parts especially at night was the green man that was built, a massive wooden sculpture that you could go inside and write a wish on a paper leaf. When they burnt the green man, your wishes would be released. DD made five wishes (including for a twin sister, a chihuahua and that they wouldn't burn the green man). I made a couple which I can't tell you or they won't come true ;). The last night they set fire to the green man, with the bonfire and fireworks it was quite spectacular - video of the burning here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJymk6sZnok.

The second week we went to the Llyn Peninsular, and stayed in a lovely campsite - quiet, well managed, spotless facilities and a great view of cardigan bay and snowdonia. It was very relaxing, especially after a week of camping in a dustbowl with only chemical or composting toilets to choose from _pale_. The area has a quiet charm, and the weather was generally brilliant. We explored lots of beaches - favourites being porth oer (or whistling sands, which squeak rather than whistle imo) and porth dinllaen which is a little village right a small beach, all protected by national trust. Plas yn Rhiw, a small cottage looked after by the nat trust was magical, and we also enjoyed Nant Gwythren, a formerly abandoned village which is now a language centre.

There were of course the usual family squabbles. DD whinged at the mere hint of a walk, and once or twice was very rude. She is also v upset about not seeing her brother (on her dad's side). But generally I think she was in a much better place than our summer holiday last year, and I think the change of routine is very unsettling for kids so that is when any problems come out.

Moneywise we spent more than intended :o, in fact on day one of the holiday we made the unplanned purchase of a day tent at £95. This was because it was raining, and our tent doesn't have any 'lobby' type space in which to cook or generally relax. Eating soggy rain splattered porridge was the final straw, and although the weather was generally much better after we purchased it, we used the day tent near constantly throughout the holiday - definitely worth getting. Food prices at the festival were astronomical - £7 for a meal which could be a small portion - so we ended up cooking almost all of our own meals throughout the holiday, with the odd bought lunch or cake thrown in. The new double gas burner OH bought was brilliant, so he enjoyed cooking for us, and we had tinned soup to reheat for festival lunches. We caught up a bit financially near the end, but we are literally at £0 in our current account with no money due in til next week.

Headwise I've made a few decisions, which I'll post more about later when I get my own head around them! Hope everyone is well, I will catch up on some diaries now!
