mooc, thanks for positive thoughts, I'm not sure how much money we'll save after topping up her oystercard, packing lunches, cooking dinners... just thinking of some quality time with DD is a good investment.

Am at work event tomorrow til at least 8pm, so at least that will be an escape!!

Clearly spoke too soon - unfortunately feeling really ill, so had to leave event early, which felt embarrassed by. Came home and lay in bed for the evening. Am popping to the doctors soon, as I suspect it is a kidney infection, either that or am just exhausted at the minute.

Not much more to report, OH has spoken to the neighbours regarding the loft work, you need to give 8 weeks notice for the party wall. Purchased my annual travelcard yesterday :j, so can now get 1/3rd off train fare in South East, as well as saving money on monthly/weekly travelcards.

ETA: also, printed MIL off some train 2for1 vouchers, and made her dig her train ticket out of the bin! Used her first one to take DD to London Aquarium yesterday, was £18 instead of £27, so she was very pleased with that. DD loved seeing Downing Street and Big Ben the most though!

thanks mooc and tyo, just got back from doctors and I do indeed have a kidney infection. Have antiobiotics, and from experience, should start to feel better soon.

tyo - you're right, MIL has taken DD out for the day, so a quiet house to myself! Planning to enter some competitions online, and have a general rest.

    * a bleary eyed post after too much time on the puter *

Just read the whole of Memory Girl's diary, Make do and Mend. An entertaining read, and very positive - have come away with some great ideas. The one I'd like to implement is the 100 days challenge, starting today. As the loft is a priority, my challenge will be to clear 10 things from the house/loft every day. That way, 1000 things should be gone by the end date, November 4. I'm hoping to have the work started a lot sooner than this, so the loft will need emptying before then, but I'm sure there is lots laying around outside the loft that needs sorting too that keep me busy til the end!

Some people have lots of things on their 100 day challenge list, but I hope just focusing on one will mean I am more productive (and less stressed).

ETA: Just seen Memory Girl was getting rid of 100 things a day, I know I could not keep that up!! But might steal her idea of 100 blocks, one to be coloured in each time something got rid of.

Awww, flowers, for me? Thanks guys :o

Antibiotics are not working as quickly as I thought, so still feeling pants :(

First set of next door neighbours have returned a signed copy of the party wall notice :j!

Asda have refunded us £1.80 for sending lots of the wrong apple juice (concentrate instead of freshly squeezed). When we do an online shop, I always tick things off the receipt as we unpack, and email them with any issues.

Looked into cashing in premium bonds, I have around £5k to cash in which I'll need to do for the loft. Found out it is quite simple, takes 8 working days. Am hoping to keep them in for October draw, and get money back mid-October to pay the builders. *dreamily imagines winning a large sum between now and then*

    50 comps entered yesterday :D

MIL and DD off this afternoon to a free craft session in the local museum that I booked them in for. MIL not happy as ends half an hour after her usual coffee time, so have dug out flask for her to take a coffee :D.

Day 1 of 100 day challenge - managed to clear 15 things yesterday (not from loft though, too short to reach hatch! :rotfl:)
    1. Old computer listed on freecycle
2-4 Old DVD player listed on freecycle, with manuals and remote control
5-7 Old make-up from bathroom cabinet
8 a load of random plastic lids from bathroom cabinet
9-12 empty small tubs for face cream and the like
    13-15 old mags
Am keeping a running list so can account for the whole 1,000!

Had little pootle through park to charity shop, felt dizzy on way back so think another day in bed in order tomorrow :(. feeling a bit low and bored too - fed up and want to feel better soon.

    On a more positive note:
day 2 of challenge, have got rid of
16-20 5 books on Read it Swap it
21-26 6 things to charity shop
27 listed another book on Amazon :j for £21 too, oooh, fingers crossed!

Bought a £5 jigsaw floral print maxi dress, not sure if it is a bit too big for me but I am going to give it a go at a friend's party this weekend (assuming I feel better). Must update dress challenge later.

Washing my delicates in the machine, I WILL get to the bottom of the laundry mountain!

Entered 50 comps, and done a couple of surveys. Oh - and got hotmail down from 600 unread emails to 50, that sweep tool is pretty good ;)
