Finally ordered replacement card for personal account - and found out that my season ticket loan has been sat there for three weeks :rotfl:! Can't wait until have finally sorted out the account situtation - will have one personal account, with pin and card, and one joint account, with pin and card. Forgot to say that yesterday I used joint account for first time ever :j

Will buy annual travelcard to start Monday, this saves a few hundred pound a year, and also you get a Gold Card which gets 30% off travel in the South East.

Have had confirmation that extra work from builders to create the extra room will be about £3k, looks like we will go ahead :j. We are drafting the letter to neighbours about party wall agreement today as apparently you have to give 8 weeks notice. :D A bit scary, could be starting at the end of September ! We want to look at quote in more detail over the weekend, and compare to the other, before going any further, but getting the letter done now means we won't be held back later on down the line.

Work have agreed to pay for my second year of fees for my museum professional development programme (AMA), this costs £120 for 12 months so I am very :D:D:D about that (last year I paid the £250 fee myself ). I get a lot of support and training in my job, and this is a really well recognised qualification in the museum industry, am very pleased to have this paid for as I would have paid it myself otherwise.

Didn't take DD swimming as have a bit of a migraine coming along and feel like going to be sick, :(. We've played a board game though and she's watching telly, which she loves! Have promised to make it up with a fun swim on the weekend.

:eek:Forgot to post Amazon book, will do first class tomorrow and hope there isn't any comeback.

Thanks mooc, I used to suffer terribly from migraines, was on medication to prevent them they were so bad. Now I only get a few a year, but still annoying. Do you suffer from them too?

tyo - am feeling better today, although very tired at work. I really think more employers should be investing in their staff - it makes you more likely to stay somewhere if you feel motivated by what you do and you keep on learning. It is unfortunately rare though, in my experience.

Posted Amazon book at lunchtime, and have done a couple of surveys. Despite having cupboards that would put Mother Hubbard to shame :rotfl:, managed to not buy lunch through bringing in a tin of beans and some pittas from the freezer. Normally people are envious of my leftover lunches, but not today!

Did some sums with OH on the loft yesterday. The main body of the loft is £26K, the L shaped dorma £3050, to replace all the back windows and door £4800, plus VAT = £39K :eek:

Plus we need to buy the bathroom suite separately (realistically 1k, and that is being sensible), and two radiators for downstairs plus fitting. After that we still have to decorate it ourselves, carpet, and get furniture.:eek::eek:

I am a bit nervous as we have (only - I never thought I would think about this much money as only!) about £36K at the minute. Hopefully we can save £1,500 per month in August, September and October, and OH is due £1k allowance back from work they haven't been paying him... Hoping schedule of payments will help work it out, and then am considering a short tem loan/credit card/asking my mum for a bridging loan to make it happen.

We are looking at a start date of September, with around a 6-8 week turnaround. This means we would be done just before the end of November, hopefully it won't be too cold before then! OH drafted the party wall notices last night and we will go around to neighbours this weekend to discuss and see if they are happy to sign.

Any tips from people who have done major house renovations before?

Well, now in frantic mode as MIL coming down in about an hour! She is looking after DD for a week, very sweet of her to offer. Means she'll have some quality time with DD, DD won't have to go to holiday club and will save us £125 in childcare.

However, does mean we have had to blitz the house - kitchen, bathroom done. Office totally emptied of computer, table, general junk and have made up a little single bed for her. Dining room, living room dejunked. Almost whole house hoovered and dusted. Junk put in loft. Two rooms left though - ours and DD's, which is so dusty I cannot believe  OH has gone with DD to allotment, I'm just taking 20 minutes to have a cuppa before cracking on. Mr A delivery due anytime now.

On top of this I woke up at 5.30 with stomach cramps, so am feeling exhausted! Had to have a few jaffa cakes to get me through...;)

OH did wonder whether all this work was worth saving £125, however I pointed out we did need to do it anyway, and having been away 2 weekends in a row it has really caught up with us. How do other families who work full time cope?
