Well the HIP grant claimable at 25 weeks goes in JAN 11 so you won't get that unless you have fallen right now.

What a ludacrous waste of money too.

SS from 1st baby only APR 11 so again it's claimable from 29 weeks chances are you'll miss it.

my parents never got anything, father worked full time in the same job till he retired. Mother worked at home then moved onto playgroup and dinner lady work, going right from one job to the other each day. Then worked for royal mail which she hated but worked all the hours she could to pay for things. Continued even with false hips.
When I was younger I'd go to work with her (not royal mail of course)if off school.

if your partner works 50+ hours a week i cant see how u would be entitled to the £500 sure start grant, u need to be on certain benefis or Child tax credits at the higher rate. dont rely on it and you cant claim it until 29 weeks pregnant. maybe u having a job would help

Also, I'm not sure what 50+ hrs and part time worker + child makes you guys such hero's?

My OH works 60+hrs a week, I worked 40hrs until a recent redundancy, plus 12hrs college each week.

If you want a sensible reply then ask a sensible question and the last line of your opening post was the one that smacked me in the face really.

Anyhow, all the best with the 2nd child.

Someone is basing their decision of when to have a child on £690?!?

    I've heard it all now.

Plus, if you are working part time because you have the child to care for, it implies your child is pretty young, so you would have baby items already? My son actually has a few of my blankets from when I was born, 22 years ago. He has plenty of blankets I've bought but it's sometimes cuter to put him in ones I used. So really there is no excuse as to why you can't keep things a couple of years. I can't see why you would have to buy much more than a few fresh clothes and a new cot mattress.

We r thinking of planning r next child within the next couple of months.

I would hate t think I have missed out of the above grants by a whisker.

Does any1 know when these come in to force and when I would have t be pregnant by to qualify.

I'm so glad they're cracking down on these frivorlous grants

Many people come on here and say "we're planning a baby / I'm pregnant. What are we / I entitled to?"

This is a money saving forum, first and foremost, so I don't think it's an unreasonable question.

The unreasonable part was planning a child based on Government Grants.. I think that was the shocking thing.

If you read the OP, she was planning on another child anyway. Why delay something for a short while if that delay costs nearly £700. Is it equaly shocking to you that people fill their cars with petrol the day before a budget, or make use of BOGOF offers, or use public transport at off peak times?
