stopping health in start and sure start maternint grants

We r thinking of planning r next child within the next couple of months.

I would hate t think I have missed out of the above grants by a whisker.

Does any1 know when these come in to force and when I would have t be pregnant by to qualify.

Does having a child not mean more to you than what grants you could get?

Sorry to be harsh, but I would never plan my child around what the government may or may not give me.

    I agree completely!
OK my children were born in 1981 and times have moved on, but for goodness sake what is this country coming to?

This smacks of single girls having kids so as to stay on IS and other handouts including housing.
I am seriously coming round to the idea that we do away with the Welfare State, and everybody looks after themselves! As I have said in the past - If you can't afford it - you can't have it!!

What is so wrong with budgeting your own finances and if you think you can afford one OK - but surely not at the expense of us taxpayers. Taking the Michael or what!!

Really!!?? Well I'm sure I am in the majority when I say, thank-goodness theses worthless grants have are being scrapped/limited!

    1) If £190 healthy start grant is priority for people, then one would question, can 'you' even afford children?

    2) In complete agreement with the one of for first child £500 grant, (which OP would qualify for regardless!) I think this grant should be restricted to first child only! £500 is plenty to get all baby equipment needed, and then it can be re-used for subsequent children!

On an environmental level, 'we' are such a throwaway society that it will be good to see people re-using things, rather than re-buying the same equipment because they are given another grant!

Really, IMV the grant isn't a complete must. When I had my first child I didn't qualify for any grants, I'm not sure there even were any grants available then? I wasn't well off, but I bought second hand, and was grateful to accept second hand offers, or the offer of borrowing from freinds, and I was lucky that I was given things that my friends no longer needed (highchair etc..)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was ridiculous!

When I have kids, the last thing on my mind will be government grants..

    No its not a joke!!!

And before you all jump to your presumptions which is a joke!

I said we were planning r next child anyway regardless of benefits recieved.

But who would be the fool if I missed out on these benefits by a month so no I will still have a child if I dont recieve these benefits thank you very much.

We both work very hard my partner 50+ hrs and me part time to look after my child already.

I thought this forum was for advice and not critism sorry for asking you guys

I don't even know if there were any grants available when my children were born (now aged 19, 12, 10). If there were, we were unaware of them. I used the same pram for all three children, although I had to buy a double pram as well, as there is only nineteen months between the two youngest.
