  • I agree with you its probably risky to order for home delivery now. The problem is with so many people ordering 12 mains the stock will run out quickly so the risk of substitutions outside the meal deal is higher.

I think those of us that got our orders complete are very lucky and the best way to take advantage of this glitch is now instore.

I'm not trying to be critical or judgemental but I think it is probably not the best plan to order 6 of these 'glitch deals' for home delivery! The pickers instore are surely going to notice that they are picking a lot of main courses even though they can presumably see very clearly on the SELs that this isn't the right Deal. Also, when things are subbed. with non-deal items and the glitch doesn't work, its very dicey phoning up about it!

I know that not everyone is able, for various reasons, to actually go to the store themselves but picking the stuff out yourself really is the only way to be sure of what you are getting/paying. And, personally, I wouldn't chance putting multiple meal deals inc. the 25% wine discount through a normal till. I don't mind chancing 1 meal deal with a bit of 'padding' through one of the part time evening staff but anything over that goes through the self scan so nobody has a chance to see exactly whats going through.

Its really not worth the risk of trying to get an extra discount through Quidco or other cash back sites by ordering online - the Deal is so good as it is that its daft to risk it.

But thats just my opinion and I don't expect everyone to agree with me!

    Why not?

This is what MSE is here for.

If tesco dont like this then they should learn to label and price products correctly. Tescos are very clever at over pricing their goods and its only those who always check there reciepts that will notice, most dont, so we are just getting that back. There are other threads around on here about tesco misprices. Again most of us take great advantage of their double the difference policy. But there will be 1000's of others that dont.

This 12 mains things has been aorund for a couple of months, it was a big thing back then when it was first noticed, so tesco have had plenty of time to spot it, and pull it, which they havent.

Why not do it online, and use a £10 off voucher which you cant do instore. Going through cashback sites isnt guaranteed that you will get your cashback but theres no reason why you shouldnt do it.

If you shop enough instore you will know which staff to use and which to stay away from.

The pickers dont know how much your paying, they have a hand held gadget that tells them exactly where each product is located, they find it, scan it, add it to your basket. Its only when all your shopping has been packed and loaded on to the van that the driver or other person prints of the invoices ready to hand to you upon delivery. My mum used to work in the dot com section of tescos right back when they 1st started doing it.

Personally my delivery driver is fantastic, he loves my orders as I can tell him all the glitches and he can get them even cheaper cos of his staff discount.

At the end of the day Tesco staff are humans just like us, they might work for tescos, but there not that loyal that they too wouldnt turn their nose up on such a good offer and for a lot of them, they believe what the till says, because that is what is drilled into them when they are training, so they dont question it, and if you the customer doesnt say anything it goes unnoticed.

I already took advantage of this offer in terms of two main meals, desert and a bottle of red for £9 for Tesco deliveries for Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We had three lots delivered on both days.

Was gonna order some more for this Tuesday (last day of the offer, but may be extended), but not taking the chance with everyone rinsing the glitch. :D

Have placed an order tomorrow for 6 more bottles of red, 12 meals and 6 deserts. Should work out to £40 with the 25% discount.

Used one and banked the other £6 off codes from the Tesco thread in the codes board, which covers the £5.50 delivery on a Saturday:

Our freezer is already rammed, but looks like we're gonna have to make room for more. :rotfl:

We haven't tried the fish pie yet, but we didn't like the lasagna at all.

The toffee pecan pudds are out of this world.

Are you sure that £120 has been taken out and not just earmarked? The actual amount may not come out til tomorrow.
I feel so bad for you otherwise as this seems to have worked for everyone else.

Are you sure that nothing was substituted? Even if the meal deal didnt work for whatever reason you should still get 25% off your 6 bottles of wine cos its on all wine.

Sorry, brain fried when posting, no it has come off the card, something like 117.xx I ordered more expensive mains etc. Wine discount worked fine :)

They did substitute, but driver had no paperwork, said no subs, sign here, then ran off.

I may try call them again, but think it is simply a lesson learnt and as they were going through the maths in detail, I had to back off :)

Couldn't sleep so popped to our 24hr Tesco. Everything was in one place and discount worked fine. Popped along to my mum's and stocked up her fridge with half the goodies. Can't wait to see her face when she wakes up to find food in her fridge. Ah, finally, a use for insomnia. Thanks OP!

Oh no I feel so frustrated for you. Did you call your store or CS last time? If I was you I would call CS today to complain about the driver having no paperwork and tellling you no subs when there was. Tell them if there was paperwork then you would have seen that there were subs and you would have sent some things back. You should get some form of compensation for this even if its only £10 off your next shop. Good luck.

Oops have just cancelled my order for Tuesday just in case!
No way do I want to pay full price as none of the stuff is worth it.
I may try instore over the weekend.

I've just looked at this deal, they only have 5 choices of main? Is that right?

Shame its all high cal food in sauces - with the M&S ones you get plain chicken & stuff like that too.

So if you did get 12 mains (if the glitch is still going) its not a lot of choice.
