in the last 3 weeks, this school has expelled 6 children, the headteacher slapped a year 10 and nothing again was done, and everytime the school is asked for the cctv cameras the school says it isn't working, imo what i have been told is blackmail.....
If thats true why dont you just move schools? It sounds like a horrific place, when you (ideally) want a sense of calm, order and routine to acheive what you can at school.
Not knowing what area you are in or your sons school year I cant say how easy this will be but as long as (this incident aside) he is a good student with good attendence and no disciplinary worries, I dont see it being a major problem. Can't you move him to a different school come September?"It would be so nice if something made sense for a change" ~ Alice in Wonderland0 -
Say 'go for it shortcakes!' and stand well away and probably ring the office for assistance..
With what phone? The teachers at my friend's school arent allowed to carry mobile phones or valuables outside the staff room during the school day (I think the exception is school trips and the PE teachers because its on the otherside of the playing field) because there have been previous incidents where its alleged students have stolen the items. They are supposed to go to the department office to phone for assistance which is great provided you can actually get out of the room. The NHS do!
I strongly dispute that, there are notices all over my local hospital explaining that violence and abusive language will not be tolerated.
A couple of years ago I accompanied an ill friend to A&E at Addenbrookes and not only were we buzzed into the department by a door entry system, we witnessed a security guard ejecting a man from the building for shouting foul things at one of the nurses, they clearly took their duty to their staff seriously.I was always very very careful to make sure the teachers weren't being undermined even on the occasions they were in the wrong..
Your colleagues were (are?) very lucky to have you and I'm sure my teacher friend would love to get the support you clearly showed your colleagues, but the sad fact of the matter is, this support just isn't there for a lot of teachers, she has colleagues who are seeing therapists just to get through the day because the school just doesn't want to know about sorting these kids out, and boy do these kids know it.but did she beat said child?
No she didn't, because two of the lads in her class tackled the boy and took his weapon after he started walking towards her with it.
Would she have defended herself including hitting him if he had attacked her? Of course she would have, just as you or I would fighting for our lives.
It seems suspect that this teacher would have physically attacked this boy without provocation, when teachers are so painfully aware that one wrong or misunderstood comment or action will end their careers.
Taking someone by the neck could be a defensive action (as to hold someone back, especially if they were trying to headbutt someone else) as opposed to an overly agressive move such as slapping or hitting.
OP needs to get the school's written statement on the matter and collect her own statements from any witnesses asap before details are lost/things are over exaggerated. The school should have records of any incidents such as removal from the classrom/letters home etc.0 -
Who used the term "naughty school"? Is this a special school for children with special needs?
Have you spoken to the chairman of the school governors or the LEA yet? You really need to do this.0 -
regardless of who is wrong/right if what op is saying about the head slapping kids and the school not telling her why son has been suspended i would be at the school waiting for the 'letter' to be printed off.
OP there are 2 sides to every story.. as a mother i would always believe my kids as i hope they have been brought up to know the truth is better than a lie reagrdless of the situation..but you need to be showing your son that although you do believe him you need to ensure he realises whats at stake here ie, teacher loosing his job, son maybe exculded, what may happen next year, what school are saying he has done (although you need the letter to do this bit)
TBH i would be moving schools regardless, the way youa re being made to wait for a letter, and being asked to drop the allegations or son cant return to school until effectively next year would all make me question the schools intentions.
out of interest how old is your son?0 -
Whats the point in inflaming the situation by refusing to leave the premises without the letter?
The school needs reasonable time to interview witnesses, aquire written statements and collate the information. They may also need to review policies to check whether matters have been dealt with accordingly and if not, deal with the matter which they can then report to the OP.
All that will be achieved by the aformentioned sit-in will be an incomplete review of the situation, which won't help the OP's son.0 -
You have a complaint against the head of the school, its as simple as that.
You therefore need to make the complaint IN WRITING as a matter of urgency to the Head of the School Governors (copied to the local education authority to be sure it does not "go missing") explaining the nature of your complaint and what you want to happen (assault investigated properly, son allowed to return to school). If you dont know who the Head of Governors is, phone the school office and ask how to contact them.
It sounds very likely that your son has been excluded from school without the correct procedures being followed and without the alleged assault being looked into.
There is very little point in getting into arguments here with those posters who are trying to second guess what has happened.
Get on the phone to the school, get the name and address of the Head of Governors and write that letter NOW.0 -
OP
You say in your post that your children had to be brought home by a teacher and you had been threatened by that teacher (think it was the same teacher as had his hand round your son's throat?). Why did this teacher have to bring your children home and why, if he threatened you did you not call the police then?
I'm sorry but I think there is much more to the story than you have been told or than you are telling us. There is obviously a lot of background and previous incidents between your children and this school. Your son refusing to leave a class that he was not supposed to be in and his refusal to go where he should have been and his apparant total lack of respect for the teacher, the school and its rules may have been the final straw for this teacher. This however does not excuse a teacher grabbing a pupil by the throat no matter how provoked they were.
It also sounds extremely strange that any pupil at High School would be threatened with "naughty " school for being a victim and that you have not been told why your son has been suspended. I would contact the LEA to find out how you go about finding out exactly what happened.
I too would remove my children from the school if it as out of control as you say.0 -
just to update, i have spoken to someone and now it has come out the head should never have said what he has said and the teacher has been suspended, will know more tomorrow0

i phoned the LEA and they are all on a training course0

hi my son was supposed to be in this class it was his tutor, and i have now told the school that i am removing my children from the school. like i have said my son didn't do anything, and i know this from 3 adults who have spoken to the school, they also know that my son was moved forms because of this teacher, this teacher was not allowed to be near my son, and had no reason to talk to my son either0
