mrcow, i know exactly what happened 3 children have all made the same statement, when my child was brought home that day, they never once mentioned what this teacher had done, but my son got away from this teacher and went straight to reception, i still haven't recieved any apology or explanation.

No you don't. Or at least you haven't said. Why has your son been suspended for three weeks? What reason has been given? Why was he being sent to isolation? Why is this happening "every day"? If it's happening "every day" at secondary then it must be with more than one teacher?

Sorry - but you're making it sound like this is a one sided situation, but the facts are not making it look that way.

Rather than posting on here, you'd be better off making an appointment with the school and finding out exactly what your son is being accused of and taking it from there.

Have you raised a formal complaint with the school about the alleged incident? What have the police said?

Right, you have to assume that your boy is telling the truth, as any parent should, so...

Regardless of what your boy has or hasn't done, the teacher has assaulted your son, so that should be dealt with primarily and hopefully the police are dealing with it. If the Head is not available, then ask for the Deputy Head. Make sure somebody realises that this is urgent now (even threaten them with the local press if you feel it appropriate)

The advice I got from this board when my daughter was struck by a teacher, was to go the head of governors and raise all your issues with him or her.

Be proactive, don't wait for them and don't let them fob you off.

If your boy is asked to go to any 'meeting' or for a 'chat' make sure he knows not to without an adult of his choice (preferably nothing to do with the school, so a parent or friend of family) as they will try and get him to drop the allegation or try and twist things.

    Best of luck.

thats the problem they won't tell me what he has breeched but they will send me a letter? i have been told that the head is in touch with the governors and it is them that is telling him what to say, i have got a few people from different organisations in touch with the school but no one will tell them either

I'm guessing the 3 week suspension is to remove your son, for whatever reason, from the school until the end of term.

Personally I would be camped at the school until you were given the letter in person, as until you get that letter you are none the wiser as to the reasons for the suspension. At the moment you have no information to go on an you need to plan your responses in a cool, calm and organised manner.

There is little to be gained by acting like a compete banshee until you know what has happened; tbh you seem vague on the details - even if the school hasn't informed you your son must have told you the series of events leading up to the alledged attack)

    The local press??????

ANY teacher who has assaulted a child, whether they were provoked or not deserves every bit of hassle they get..

We had one merely THREATEN to 'wipe that smirk off' my sons face.. he has been out of work ever since!! Granted my son is the mouthiest kid in the entire world and I would gladly pummel him on occasion but a person in such a position simply doesn't have the right to say or do anything... let alone commit an actual assault.

LEA, governors, police and the press.. I would totally blow the top off the school..

Look at that recent case where the teacher almost killed a child.. yes the child was being an irritating git, as children are, but you walk away when you cannot take any more.. and find someone else to stand in for a bit while you calm yourself.

I guess this raises the question of how we discipine children in schools......that's not to say assulting a child is correct but I guess there is a direct relationship between standards of behaviour in the classroom and the level of discipline that the teachers can dish out.

And before anyone asks if it happened to my son I would be camped out in the school's reception to at least find out what exactly the sitution was and not logged on to a website........

The press wouldn't touch it. They can't, until the facts have been established and the teacher charged. The stakes are too high. Local papers cannot afford to take the risk.

There's clearly a lot we don't know and I doubt very much that we're getting the whole, unedited story. There is a type of parent that breeds the type of child that causes problems and pushes teachers to extremes, and to me the OP is coming across as that type of parent.

I would be sat in the school reception area, until the head sees you, I would also contact the LEA, head of the goveners, your local MP, and the press

And what do you do when there is one exit out of the room and the little toad is stood in front of it waving a knife and threatening to kill you?

Just one of many similar experiences one of my best friends has had to endure in her relatively short teaching career.

No other employer in the world would allow its staff to endure the abuse, and that is what it is, abuse, that schools allow their staff to be subjected to. There is a complete lack of support for the teachers when they report it because either a) theyre supposed to 'just deal with it' or b) some parent goes down the school and rants and raves about how their kid is an angel and they have their 'rights' and the school caves in and the kid is right back in the classroom the next day, with all the more attitude because they got away with it.

You bring up the recent event of the teacher that nearly killed a pupil, that boy is reported to have subjected the teacher to a systematic routine of bullying. Violence is never acceptable but for someone to be reduced to even thinking about doing that, let alone doing it, his life must have been made miserable by this boy and his friends who were 'having a laugh'.
