Well my car insurance documents arrived today, and of course nothing is ever easy! They want a photocopy of my drivers licence, photo card and paper bit. My photo card was stolen with my wallet years ago and I've never seemed to get round to replacing it (silly I know). I rang the insurance people and luckily they will just accept a copy of the paper bit for the minute, so I must get a card replacement as soon as possible, at a cost of £22! Plus of course I'll need to get photos done, about £3.50 I think. GAH!!
Looks like October is going to be an expensive month for me, I'll have to really tighten my belt if I want to reach my targets. On the plus thou I've managed to grab an extra 3 shifts this month.
I really want a new bed too (and that's not just cos I'm coping Pap!) there is a bed shop on my road that I've never been into, I passed it on my way to the post office to pay my water rates, and thought I'd just take a look. There was a lovely bed for £179, and some other nice ones for around £100. I started thinking to myself 'well I could put off paying the credit card for one month, it wouldn't make much difference'. But I must resist! Although my bed is a little loose at the bolts, it's still in ok nick and will do for the while.
I think I will wait until my birthday in January, I [STRIKE]should[/STRIKE] will have paid a large chunk back onto the credit card, and if I still desperately want it then I will buy a new bed as my birthday present to myself.

Well I booked myself into have my eyes tested, only 3 years overdue! Work have kindly agreed (after weeks of nagging from me) to pay for my glasses!:D I'm popping in on Sat and I took £20 off the manager today to pay for it.
It's not all rosy at the moment thou, a 'friend' who still owes me £170 isn't answering my texts, or picking up when I ring. She's 200 miles away so I can't pop round. I've only had £50 off her since April and I have a sinking feeling she's not paying up.
What makes me most upset was that she always called me her best friend, and I was always there for her. I opened my house to her twice when she was basically homeless, and I loaned her the money to help her out. Now I realise she was just using me and she was probabley laughing at me all the while.
I'm not giving up thou, I'm going to keep ringing and texting until I get a reply, and my money.

Just been to get my eyes tested, and as I guessed I need new glasses. I managed to pick out a cheap(ish) pair, and I also took advantage of the 2-4-1 offer, so I'll have a spare pair too. The total came to £115, but they won't start making them until I cough up, so I'll speak to my boss tomorrow.
I also managed to get thru town without spending anything, despite being hungry and wanting to buy either sushi or a subway. I'm going to grill up some chicken in a bit, and have it with a load of salad. I'm such a good girl!:p
I also signed up to the library the other day, so I've got my hands on Harry Potter number 6 & 7 finally. I've finished no.6 and I'm about 1/3 away thru no.7, very good and I'm eager to get to the end.

Hi there - I haven't stoped by your thread for a while so just had a bit of a read.
did you get your wages paid to you by the way? The 16 extra hours that were missing?
Sorry your 'best friend' is not coughing up as well. She's probably still struggling and is petrified of talking to you - but you've worked that out already I am sure!
Do you think texting her saying you realise she might not be able to pay it off all at once but you need some back little & often might be do-able for her?
Just a thought.
Hope you've had a good weekend.

I'm getting a pay rise!! :j It was in the weekly office newsletter! Not sure when it will come into effect (soon I hope). Everyone is getting an extra 15p an hour, taking my wages up to £8 an hour. It ain't much more but it's heading the right way
Everyone is going to get an extra 4 days leave too, in line with the new legislation!

Hey x_raphael I have been reading all about your journey trying to pay off your debts, do overtime, eat healthily and try and lose weight. I have to hand it to you -you sure are doing well. As my mum would say "god loves a tryer" so he must love you!:A
Thought I might suggest to you it might be worthwhile you signing up with a few research groups/mystery shopping companies. I actually belong to about 5 myself - although I don't get to do these every month when an assignment comes up its easy money. Also some companies send you emails for you to complete their surveys these arent always much might be 2 pounds you get might be 15 pounds - but the way I look at it a few minutes or 20 minutes feeling in a survey in the comfort of my own home is going to hurt - and its always nice when the cheque comes in!
As for your friend I agree with what someone else said to you recently - text your friend and say you understand that she may be having financial problems herself but if she could pay you little and often it would help you tremendously! if she has any soul she will think about what you said and will try her best to make small payments to you -you have been an invaluable friend to her - and she shouldn't want to put your friendship on the line for the sake of her stubborness! goodluck to you I say!0 -

Thanksproblem is she was already making small payments, and stopped. It's not her soul thats lacking, just her conscience!!
I really don't think she cares about my friendship, she never rings or texts me, I really believe she was using me and I was young & naive and fell for her lies.
Oh well, lesson learnt I suppose, and at least her daughter is still paying me what she owes (touch wood!)Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Okay, updates:
~I managed to battle thru my cold early morning starts, and my boiler has stayed off.
~I found out that I could just ring and pay my driving licence replacement over the phone, no confusing form to fill in, and no new photos to buy! Waiting for it to be delivered (blooming strikes).
~Told my boss how much glasses will cost, waiting on his reply (and money!)
~Finished reading Harry Potter 6 & 7, very good!
~Still waiting on Shares info, waiting on one of the trustees to get back from his holiday.
And as for my monthly targets:x_raphael_xx wrote: »*At least £200 saved onto credit card. So far I've paid £100 onto card, I've got a transfer for £74.76 going thru (I want to make the number nice and tidy!) and nothing come off yet.
*Limit my food bill to £60 this month. So far so good, £36.36 spent.
*Try to lose at least 3lbs. I desperately want to reach 16 stone this month. Lost 4.6 lbs this week!! Only 3.6 lbs to go til I reach 16 stone!
*Keep my Brothers Birthday Visit spends to a minimum. Hopefully no more than £75. Going up on Friday, so we shall see!Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!
