  • Be careful when you change pet insurance. Any condition that you have already claimed for is unlikely to be covered in the new policy so if its something that may reaccur it may be worth waiting or you could have high vet bills to pay. This happened to me with my boxer dog, he had an ear infection that took ages to clear up and cost several hundred pounds that we claimed on the insurance and they paid. 2 years later I changed insurance company and of course he got another infection and the new company refused to pay as they said it was a pre-existing condition!

There are loads of people on this site that give great advice and support. Good luck

Thanks, the only thing I claimed for was x-rays & treatment for a poorly leg. Shadow kept limping but the vet could find nothing wrong (hence the x-ray), a course of anti-inflamitarys always seemed to cure it. And we put it down to her spraining her leg from jumping around like a mad thing (she was about 6 months old.
Touch wood the problem hasn't risen since, and thou she still runs around like a thing posessed, she seems more sure on her feet.

  • Hello all,
Sorry for the silence, but I've had a week off work and my regular routine was knocked out of wack!
    :o
The bbq was very fun, and the kebabs were very yummy!

I've had a great week off, I popped up to my mums to stay for a couple of days on her boat, and also visited my friend who owns a pub nearby.
Then I got back and spent the rest of my hol taking Shadow for nice long walks on the Moors and the beach (I have pics on my facebook account if anyone's interested)
I managed to keep the spending down on my hol, I only spent petrol money and dog sitter fees while I visiting mummy. And a little 'me' cash.

Unfortuanately my weight has suffered thanks to my hol, it's started creeping back up again. My target is to get to 16 stone by the time I visit my brother on 12th Oct. So that gives me 19 days to loss 9 lbs!!

Facebook is another reason why it's been hard to drag myself back! I was determined to avoid it, by my brother sent me a link and sucked me in!

Well I'm back now and going to start posting reqularly again (until my next hol in Oct!)

  • Hey all, well it's that time of the year again for me...car tax and insurance to pay!

I renewed my tax online ~ a very easy and quick method, I would reccomend to anyone. I decided to just go for 6 months, as the difference between 2x6 months or 12 months was only about £15, so the 6 months I don't have to pay yet can sit safe on my credit card til March!:D

I'm going to change insurers, I used 'confused.com' and found someone £100 cheaper than my current insurer wanted for renewal. I rang up my insurer to see what deal they could give, and even thou she 'spoke to her supervisor' she could only drop it by £50.
I've decided to pay monthly, there's an extra £50 more to pay than if I paid in full, but the interest I'll save by not wiping £400 off my credit card is more benefical. And if I want too, when my credit card is paid off (hopefully by Jan or Feb) I will pay the remainder off in full and get the interest amended.

I've currently got £150 floating somewhere between my bank account and my credit card (I transfered online) so as soon as it shows on the CC I'll sign up with the new guys.

Whoever your new insurer will be have a look on www.quidco.com or other cash back sites to see if you can get the same deal but cashback as well.

  • Well I checked quidco, and unfortunately the insurers I'm going with aren't on the list. Oh well!
The money has gone through on my credit card now, so I will ring them this morning and pay the deposit.

In other news: My flat is freezing! I'm usually too hot, but last night I had to resort to digging out my hotwater bottle & wearing a jumper to bed. I am refusing to put the heating on til the last possible minute! It's going to be really hard to resist when I have my 6am starts.

My gas boiler is never on, I have an electric shower, and I boil a full kettle to do my dishes with, so I don't need it on for hot water. The only thing I use gas for is the hob rings on the oven, so my gas bill is alway very low (so low that the blokey on the phone wondered if the meter was broken!) but heating over the winter will of course cost me!

I must try and hold out as long as possible!

Being warm is a good thing. You're doing well enough to spend some money on it. :)

Ha ha! I think I'll try the first few mornings without, if I can't cope I'll set it to come on 30 mins before I wake, and stay on for an hour. That way my house will be nice and warm when I wake up, and only be on for an hour a day.

My money transfered onto credit card this morning, so car insurance deposit paid. Sneeky barstewards added a card payment fee of £1.50 on top, so £151.50 came off my credit card :(. Oh well, I'm hoping to pay at least £300 onto it in October. Though of course I'm on holiday again and visiting my bro for his birthday, I don't know how much will come off but hopefully I can keep it low. My work collegue is cooking me a cake to take up to him (shh it's a surprise!) she's a great cook so he'll love it & it will save me a few pennies.

I managed to do an extra hour at work yesterday, a few drivers roofsigns stopped working, and we had no working ones in the office. I offered to repair a few, but it's a messy business so I had to go home to get my civvies on. I live round the corner so it only took me 10 mins. I don't like leaving Shadow for too long at home alone so the boss suggested bringing her in. She is very excitable and loved it, running around & greeting everyone.
Also, while I was in tonight someone rang in sick for thier shift tomorrow morning, course I grabbed it straight away. So an extra 8 hours this week. Lovely!

Ooh, wages go in the bank tonight at midnight!
    :D

  • I can't wait til tomorrow to update my sig & my budget on my computer so I'm doing it now!

£4819.26 left to pay! I'm keeping my credit card balance at £1700 until it's paid off, as it keeps going up and down at the mo. It's easier than changing my total all the time!

So what do I want to achieve this coming month?
*At least £200 saved onto credit card.
*Limit my food bill to £60 this month.
*Try to lose at least 3lbs. I desperately want to reach 16 stone this month.
*Keep my Brothers Birthday Visit spends to a minimum. Hopefully no more than £75.

I'll keep ya posted how this pans out over the month.

I'm also contemplating selling my shares back to the company, In the last two years I have paid £5 a week out of my wages, I never notice the tiny amount but it's totalled to about £430. I have no idea what % the shares have risen to, or what they're worth at the mo, I've emailled the company secretary (sp?) and I await more info!

In other news: I have completely run out of tea bags! I have none at home and none at work! Good job I'm going to Asda tomorrow, although I have to go all morn & afternoon without a cuppa!!
