Just to let you know I did understand your original meaning, I also find it annoying that people moan it is hard to find work when if you are in a position to offer work and often at a decent rate, that a lot cannot be bothered to turn up or apply and those that do expect you to bend over backwards for the privilage of allowing you to employ them.
Thanks! Glad to see that there are a few of us on similar wavelengths!
In my previous business we used to get loads of applicants for each vacancy but most of them were completely unsuitable for the job - clear evidence of people applying for any job going just to keep their number of applications up. This system has always been crazy as all it does is waste a lot of admin time especially if you send a 'no thanks' to everyone. We used to get extremes such as shop workers applying for engineer roles or labourers applying for admin jobs. I didn't expect a similar thing still to be happening especially with 'so-called' tradesmen!0 -
Well....I'm now on the dole!! I quit my job on Wednesday partly because I hated it.
However...I'm not signing on! I'm off with the TA tommorow for three weeks & have a new job to start when I get back! A better job I might ad!0 -

Haha all that utter tosh about people living on £60 a week, you know full well its more than that, think of all the other benefits that can be claimed, some of them seem better off than someone who works and has to pay their own bills! very fair, yes? :mad:
Well come on Mr Know It All list them then cos I'm trying to think what these other benefits could be.
I know someone who once a year gets a crisis loan then goes on a 2 week orgy of drink, drugs and taxis but he still has to pay the money back.
Anyway if doleys all lead a life of luxury why do they sit in Wetherspoons and not champagne bars?0 -
I gotta admit, other than all the benefits involved, from housing benefits, child benefits and council tax benefits, I have no idea how much people get on JSA a week. If its only £60 a week, I cannot fathom how they survive, that wont even cover my weekly food shopping bill.
Im currently signing on as struggling to find work.
I am only entitled to £51 a week JSA and no other benefits. I was informed by the lovely job centre that I cannot claim anything else because:
* My partner has a job (not enough to support us both though)
* We own our house and do not rent / live in a council property
* I have no children
* I am able bodied
Great, so we have to struggle because I've done things right? Should I get pregnant? Have a few kids? Sell our house and claim a place off the council? Get me partner to give up his job and join me on the dole? Fake a disability? Yes, that way I'll get some bloody help!
And don't get me wrong I'm grateful for my £51 a week, but no it doesn't cover much. The £204 a month covers my personal direct debits (car insurance, breakdown cover, mobile phone, credit card payments). So we're currently living off my partners wage which just isn't enough!!Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
mandi, I am sure your son would be an asset to any company with such an attitude and due to that I am sending you a suggestion I know has worked for others that may help him, not posting it open as the lazy don't deserve it.
Ahhh c'mon! I'm intrigued now - spill the beans please....0 -
All those that replied to your advert report them to the job centre. Benefits in this country must be scrapped to the bare minimum.
Why do you think the Labour party scum were importing another working class whilst keeping this countries work shy in benefits? It didn't work for them did it?
I have been on the dole 20 odd years ago and hopefully never again. But i still say scrap the benefits to the bare minimum such has 50p per day. If they want money for nothing start doing some community service to earn it, such has cutting elderly peoples grass, cleaning graffiti, sweeping the streets of a town centre first thing on a Sunday morning and a whole myriad of other things instead of watching Jeremy Kyle of a morning (if they are awake).
before people start screaming i'm a benefits denying Nazi, take a look around you. Some people have no intention of working. They would have to for the minimum wage if i had the power to do it.
I know people are going to moan it wasn't my fault i lost my job, i know it wasn't. What i am getting at is the permanent work shy who should receive the absolutely minimum to survive and that's it. For some even that's too much. How can they drink in the pubs all day? Let's face it we all see it day to day of people screwing the system. Let's screw them for a change and force them to work........or starve.
I cannot wait till benefits are scrapped to concentrate peoples minds to get a job. If you want to work, you will. Also only pay child benefit for the first born and then that's it. If some people want half a dozen kids then let them pay for them, not the state.
Oh i could go on.
No point reading past the first line really. You do realise that any old joe is allowed to respond to an ad placed at the jobcentre, not purely those signing on? Theres also masses more unemployed people than those signing on in the first place, so it can't be THAT attractive.
EDIT: And while I'm at it it, if there is a massive number of immigrants coming over here to scrounge off an already burdened benefits system, why the heck aren't they - and our supposedly massive native underclass - running off to Ireland, where the MINIMUM dole payment is around £180 compared to Britains £45/55 odd payment per week.0 -
My OH is out of work now. He is 55. He's getting basic JSA allowance. I have a good job and as such we are keeping our heads above water...just. He's not lazy , has worked since age of 15 and would work at anything but there are no jobs. He has applied for everything and everything. I know there is a problem with leaches but not everyone without a job is the same. My OH would do anything to get back to work0

My husband has been out of work due to redundancy since May this yr. He has always worked, since before leaving school infact, he is 47yr old. His JSA contribution based has just finished and we have been told that as I work 20hrs per week we are not entitled to income based JSA, we get £2.80 off our council tax per wk, I am disabled. I don't understand how his portion of council tax is just £2.80 and I am left to pay the other £24, I only bring in £130 a wk.
If I wasn't working we would be entitled to slightly more than I earn in benefits but I enjoy my job and don't want to be forced to give it up, either way it is not enough for us to survive on for long, if my husband cannot find work soon I will have to try and get a full time position, I am an amputee, have good days and really bad days so I am not looking forward to being on my "feet" all day. What choice do I have though.0
