The problem is where I live you can only get a 2 bedroomed house for that amount of money. My 2 son's are also autistic & can't share a bedroom without killing each other so I actually need a 4 bed house which costs £850 plus a month.
The only place I could afford to live for £576 is a 3 bed house on the roughest council estate on the opposite side of town miles away from my kids school.
I have to top up my rent which is £925 pcm with my 2 son's DLA money already.
Will everyone's LHA be changing or will it only effect people that live in London etc?
How did I know that disability would come up!
Yet you are trying it on to claim 100k from the NHS but you wouldnt spend it to provide your family with a home after how many house moves in how long?
If these moves were as traumatic as you have claimed you would put the money into a family home but that would mean you got less in benefits and you dont want the mythical NHS payout to do that.Breast_Cancer_Survivor wrote: »Our LHA rate is not just based on our town though but neighbouring towns which are cheaper to live in than mine.
I can assure you that in my town you can't rent a 3 bedhouse for less than £600 unless it's on a council estate.
Many people have no choice but to live on council estates but your to special for that.Breast_Cancer_Survivor wrote: »I live in Northamptonshire which isn't an expensive area although my town is probably the most expensive in our area & I prefer /choose to live on a private estate as this is where we lived when I split from my husband & didn't want to disrupt the kids from their friends/school.
I could move to one of the 3 council estates & rent a cheaper house but again I choose to substidize my rent as I wouldn't subject my kids to that again.
Your IS pays the diffrence between the LHA and the actual cost of your rented home, you arnt claiming IB as you have always claimed here, but IS!
And as much DLA as you can to maximise your IS.
Your whole family is on benefits, inc at least 2 kids and that means IS and not IB, DLA and two lots of carers allowance/premium on IS.
And even worse you believe that your sons are destined for a life on benefits as you posted last week.0 -
Would someone claiming ESA (work based) & DLA have benefits reduced after 12 months? Someone who is completely capable of working but doesn't want to.0

Perhaps the poor can consider getting work so they can pay their own rent and then they can pick their own area to live in depending on what they can afford.
Just like the rest of us.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

Wow!!! You really do have it in for breast cancer survivor! I think you need to take a step back in all honesty! You are coming across as a bit of a bully having read your posts on different sub sections of this message board, it's coming across almost stalker'ish on your part!
If you really cannot tolerate BCS posts then just don't reply, it's actually very cruel to pick apart someone in the way you are doing!
That's all, as you were

Its certainly not 'ghettoising'. Its no different to someone who is working. They know what their salary is, they know how much they can afford to pay in rent. They are also excluded from some areas. Exactly the same thing.
Someone who has a salary of £1100 a month knows that that they cannot afford a property that costs £1000 a month on a posh estate. Someone claiming LHA knows that they will have a shortfall over a certain amount, its about choice and living within your means !:j0 -

You're right. Yes, we should all live within our means. Yes, whether you're working or not it's a question of choice as to how you allocate your resources.
The problem though is what happens when the poorest members of society (elderly, ill, disabled, unemployed, poorly educated, workshy whatever the reason) are increasingly concentrated in high density / cheap housing - which is a scenario that is more likely given this change to LHA. There is a link between high unemployment and crime, vandalism, teenage pregnancy, dropping out of school etc. Personally I think this move might have repercussions (in the long term) that none of us want.Eat food. If you don't want to work, you have to work to earn enough money so that you won't have to work

I think the problem will be in places like london where its is hard pressed to find rented houses for less than £400 a month unless you are renting from council. So what do you do when your working and cant afford a morgage and cant rent cheap as lack of social housing?
Due to lack of housing london isnt suddenly going to reduce all its rent so a house only costs £400 week to rent. I do think they will have to make some expectations,. Would love to see some stats about how many london bourghs a family of 5 could afford to live in.0
