Hi. :hello:. Just stumbled across your thread on a lazy saturday morning. You sound very energetic and focussed. A thought that occurred to me was whether a credit union would be able to help you out? They vary as some make you save (from 1 pound per week I believe) before you can get a loan but others you can get a loan straightaway I think - I don't know if the rates are amazing but will certainly be better than 20+ % interest. It might we worth having a look at?

  • Hi beccie,

Thought i'd pop over to your diary after you so kindly popped over to mine and gave me a much needed boost!

I've read you dairy from beginning to end and think you are doing really well, keep it up! :)

A shame about your job, but hopefully this other one works out for you..it has got me thinking about getting a second job as its a good way to crack into the debt and I have spare time at the moment.

Hope you are ok after the card accident and not feeling so stiff now.

Morning hun, I hope you aren't feeling the after effects of the shunt today! I love the new ticker too, seeing it like that really brings home how much progress you have made so far :).

Is it this weekend you are going to London or am I in a pickle and all confused? If it is, make sure you have a fab time
Thanks Jody, definitely all recovered, had to take the car to the garage for an estimate yesterday, took over an hour when they said it would only be 15 mins!

Thanks Everhopeful. Another job is definitely an excellent way to make inroads into the debt, it's helped me knock quite a few months of my DFD.

Hope things are going well for you x

Not too much to report at the mo.

Worked the last shift of my regular hours at the pub last night. Was a really nice shift as well, lots of nice people to chat too so actually felt a bit sad in a weird way! Still some extra shifts still to come.

After a good start the LH fund has slowed to a trickle, although have almost hit the £100 target for this month so that's good. Going to have to get a move on with other ideas though if I'm going to keep hitting that target.

And off to London on Friday till Monday!!!!!! Sooooooooooo excited!!!!!! :D:j

Congrats on making the snowball payment! It's nice to be able to meet them every month when you can

Pardon my ignorance, but what's a snowball payment?

    Thanks.

These are payments made each month to the debt at an agreed amount each month. There's a calculator you can use on the internet (http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx) which is called a snowball calculator (hence snowball payment). Basically, you enter your debts in there, and state what you can afford to repay each month and it will calculate when you'll be debt free. Each payment is a snowball payment - if you pay more than this, then naturally your debt free date is sooner.

Most people here will do this to have an idea of when they'll be debt free based on what they can afford to repay each month. It will also help you chose which debts to concentrate on first and how much you should pay towards them each.

Have a look and if you get stuck, or have any questions - we'll be able to help.

    :)
