That's shame hun, I would fail a rental check as well but fortunately our flat is all in my OH's name and he has a perfect credit score!

Hopefully something will come up for your soon regarding another job but in the mean time why not take some time to relax? You probably need a break anyway :)

Hi Adam, of course there is a plan to back-up the back-up plan! Is it that obvious how much I like my plans?! :D

I have put my name into a couple of others now so they know I am looking and told someone here who also works in a pub and she said she would put my name forward too. Problem is not many are really taking people on as the pubs round here are suffering a bit at the moment.

In the meantime though, there is the hours left as when I can get them and I have been checking out the make £10 a day thread etc to try and get some tips.

    Hi Jody,

I looked before and was told I didn't qualify. I then got some advice on dropping extra work and stuff so I did. I asked one of the CCCS people on here though and they said it would affect my credit rating to have to do it. Which would be ok but they said it might affect my ability to pass rental agencies checks - and because of the market we have to move every six months to a year so I can't afford to fail that. Thanks for the suggestion though - really wish I could do that! :)

Anyway £1.90 so far into my lost hours fund! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Saw my Mum last night and told her what was going on and she gave me her spare change to kick things off. Love my Mum.

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Thought that with all that is going on the moment I'd take a proper look back at the past few months and summarise my many complicated spreadsheets to see where I have ended up Don’t know if anyone else is like me but I seem to run so many different spreadsheets for different things. It has really given me something to think about – when it’s all put together the interest I am paying is even worse than I thought – in fact it’s horrifying! But at least it is on it’s way down. Gonna do this every month – think seeing it as a summary has been good to really show me my progress. And it's cheered me up no end - even if things go a bit downhill from here, at least I've set myself up well for it so far. Yes, that’s right, I am being pleased with myself!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I've also finally checked the damage that the £100 less could make.

I didn't want to as I was very worried about it, but decided that facing up to my debts wasn't just a one time thing at my LBM but throughout the whole way through as situations and money change. It's all very well knowing what goals I am working towards but it doesn't hurt to also know the worst case scenario too.

And....it's not as bad as I thought!!! Yay! :T

If I don't make any of that £100 on any month (and that's definitely not going to happen :D) but if just completely don't bother, even then it would add 3 months to my DFD and cost me another £558 in interest.

Still not good I know, but not the horror story I was imagining!

I have extra shifts this weekend too so they will be able to go to the LH Fund.

Combined with the fact I'm getting up at 5 on Saturday morning to go and take photographs this is gonna be a busy weekend!

But I'm feeling positive and ready to tackle it :D

Have a great weekend all x:)x

I did - as it was all day shifts luckily so my evenings were free so that was something!

It's good as well, most of my friends drink in the pub I work in so although I don't get to go and sit with them i can still chat with them at the bar and stuff and sit with them on my cigarette breaks - so although I am working it's still quite social which is nice :)

    Hiya Beccie,

You mentioned that you and your OH make soups on a Sunday so you can eat them as lunches during the week ahead. You don't happen to have any simple recipes you could share do you? ...I made sweet potato and chilli soup yesterday, but I need other cheap soup ideas.

    Thanks,
    Claire

P.S- This is the soup recipe I used yesterday, it was really easy:

    Sweet potato & chilli soup
    Ingredients
    · butter
    · 1 onion , roughly chopped
    · 1 red chilli , finely chopped or a pinch of chilli flakes
    · 1 tsp ground coriander
    · 2 garlic cloves , crushed
    · 750g sweet potatoes , peeled and cut into chunks
    · vegetable stock fresh, cube or concentrate made up to 500ml
    · 75g Gruyère cheese, grated
    · a pinch paprika , optional

    Serves 4

    Ready in 30 mins

    Vegetarian

    1. Melt a knob of butter in a large pan, add the onion, chilli, coriander and garlic and cook for about 8 minutes until softened. Add the sweet potato and cook for a few more minutes. Add the stock, bring to the boil then simmer for about 10 minutes until the veg is soft.
    2. Mash, or blend if you want a smooth soup. Season and serve with a sprinkling of cheese and a pinch of paprika.

Ah that's nice! It's always good when you can work with friends around as it seems like you're getting paid to socialise. I used to DJ in a club, so my friends would always be there, and I got paid to be there too so was always cool.

    :)

    Thanks Beccie, you're a star!!

My weekend was good thanks... I got lots of food shopping in and I did some good old fashioned home cooking. The OH loved the steak, ale and dumpling stew I made!!

It sounds like you're still really motivated and that you're working hard to save the pennies... keep it up girl!

...Thanks again for the recipes! I will let you know how I get on!!
