You could also try to replace the sugar with Sucralose (Splenda), but not sure as recipe asks for demerara. I'd give it a go, just follow replacement instructions on splenda pack.
Also some good recipes here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=46777&page=20 -
I have just started a new job - I have about an hours traveling and leave home at abou 6.15 am. I don't want to waste time at home having breakfast so I have been taking toast with me in the car. I was thinking that a cereal bar of some sort would be better but don't want to buy ready made ones - they are expensive!
Would like to make some - I make flapjacks for the kids but I am also trying to loose weight so would like to make something that was a bit healthier.
Does anyone have any recipes of could direct me to any links.
Thanks;)0 -

I used Thriftylady's recipe but threw a handful of raisins and chopped apricots through them and they turned out great. Hope this helps irchy_mum.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. What a great site. :j Thanks for that. I'd also like to add I've been struggling too with this. I don't eat wheat flour and I wanted to make something to just fill the little gap at 10.30am. Tried alsorts of recipes mainly based on sponge, so looking forward to trying something different.
Would highly recommend the silicone baking trays split into 12 oblong bars rather than cutting stuff up. They made brilliant sponge bars yesterday. I bought 2 sets from TKMaxx. They were reduced to £3.00 each. I was a bit dubious that they would stick, but they were absolutely superb. Very, very pleased. Also because they're oblong the bars stack neatly and don't take extra space in the freezer.
Thanks again for your post. :T0 -
Pink, Toxic Lemon posted a recipe for Chewy Seed Health Bars in December 2006. I think it was under "Tray Bakes" and about posting number 15. It sounded delicious and I bought (or had in store cupboard) all the ingredients but haven't yet got around to making them. DS returns to school on Wednesday so hopefully will have more time soon.0
