That hobnob recipe makes loads of them but they freeze too - just layer them with paper or foil between so they don't stick
In fact I usually hide half of them in the freezer as soon as I've cooked them otherwise OH and the kids would eat them all in 10 minutes
It does make loads.
I freeze the cookie dough, in a long sausage shape.
Then when I want to make them, I defrost the dough. Cut the sausage into discs, and bake in the normal way.0 -
Basic flapjack recipe is 4oz each of butter and sugar, 2 tablespoons of golden syrup - melt in a saucepan and then stir in 10oz of oats.
To this you can add whatever you like! I often find it needs more oats if you don't add much else. I usually add mixed seeds - not fond of dried fruit in flapjacks - but you can also add nuts or even chocolate chips.
Bake in a lowish oven - gas 3 or 4 - until golden brown. Cut into squares while still hot and leave to cool in the tin.
Made these, and have eaten half already:o they are yum, thanks for the recipe! OOps just noticed. I only used 8 oz of Oats (MR T's) and they were perfect!

I just edited my original post because I noticed that I wrote 10oz oats when in fact I always make double quantity (which is why I had 10oz in mind) and my recipe calls for 5oz! Mea culpa! As I put in the post above, I usually do it by feel as you have to get a balance between sloppy and dry so I just stir in the oats until it looks about right. 8oz is therefore probably perfect! I could eat these all day which is probably why I am a good three stone heavier than when I was first married...
I have those plastic bags of value oats or they might be smartprice - they are now 58p for a kilo but they were even cheaper when I bought them - and those plus marked down butter and sacks of sugar make for an inexpensive yummy treat!0 -

Flapjacks smell yum !!!
Please tell me the flapjacks turned out ok, I feel really guilty for putting the wrong amount of oats in the recipe :eek:0 -
That made me laugh! They were so good, and there was I was thinking, "How much money does 2oz of oats less save me?" LOL Probably about 3p!!!
ETA I wish I could afford butter but at the moment it's stork all the way, which I hate for toast etc. but it's been OK for baking, and the Flapjacks were, as I said, delicious! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

Basic flapjack recipe is 4oz each of butter and sugar, 1 tablespoon of golden syrup - melt in a saucepan and then stir in about 6oz of oats. You can usually gauge it by how stiff the mixture is. My recipe calls for 5oz oats but even when I use double quantities (a whole packet of butter, 8oz sugar, 2 tblsps golden syrup and 10oz oats) I find that I have to add more oats. It depends what else you put in it.

Thanks for those flapjack recipes (especially the microwave one) - I sense a baking session coming on today. Only attempted flapjacks once and they were a failure - as OH loves them I need to persevere.0
