scuse me? you 'met' this guy once for a few hours and he has rang up and asked if he can stay with you? would you do that with a guy you met in the pub? just because he was at a family wedding does NOT make him harmless!
If you were raped by him while he was staying with you - the defence would have a field day! you invited him to stay overnight - ok I know by law no means no - but juries are influenced by such matters.
hun - you DONT know him and to let him stay overnight???????????? I wouldnt.

I have to be honest and say that I thought the same as you. Whilst I appreciate there may be some decent men out there, the fact that the OP has said that he tried it, kind of indicates to me that he though he was going to get a free bed and sex out of his weekend. I would have tried to find out a lot more about the guy before inviting him into my house, via mutual friends, etc.

She has, did and her virtue is intact. Try not to overreact. Time to change the medication perhaps?

Yes, I 'met' this guy once at a wedding gave him my phone number. Chatted to him over the phone every few days for about 10 months. Talked about anything and everything. He was coming to Birmingham to take part in the Athletics European trial & UK Championships. He stayed one night at a hotel and the Saturday night at my place. We both had a great time together laughing and joking.

No, I do not know him inside and out but he is a very serious athlete and wants to represent us in the 2012 Olympics. He would have no chance to do that by raping me.

No one ever knows anybody and what they are capable of sometime even after 20 or more years. Some of those nutters are someone's son, husband, dad, nephew and I am sure that their family and friends would say that "he was a lovely bloke, I never thought he would do something like that."

I would not do it with a guy in a pub, because I do not go to the pub. I have been in a taxi late at night on my own with a male taxi driver, just because he is driving a taxi it doesn't make it 100% safe either, but yet still many women get into one but they are still strangers with a sign on their car. Any man can turn on any woman at anytime. Many men wouldn't but no one can tell who will and who won't.

I have never done anything like this before and all the scary things crossed my mind, but not all men are monsters and some of those monsters are married to women.

    Did I do it? YES.
    Did I enjoy it? YES.
    Did we have sex? NO.

He is coming back again for more races this weekend and staying in a hotel. I am busy anyway so may not get to see him. If I wasn't I would still meet up with him.

I will keep him waiting till the next time:A....

I was worried she was going to boil his running shoes, then stab him while he slept. If we're generalising that is.

oh right an introduction at a wedding and a few phone converstations are enough to ring up and ask to stay with someone?
luckily this one turned out alright.

A few? Since when was about 120 phone calls a few? And since when were all men psychotic rapists?

You need to a hefty dose of reality dear.

So long as he told someone where he was staying he would have been ok, and he could have always slept with a chair propped behind the door.
Mind you, there is always the chance she could have drugged his meal.
