  • Unbelievable - I wouldn't worry about her being sacked if that's how she speaks to customers!
    Don't let it drop!
Just a thought - in these days of surveillance, there must be a CCTV camera in the viscinity - could be useful to demonstrate her actions (ignoring you as you tapped on the glass) even if you can't hear what she is saying?

Success is a journey, not a destination. So stop running!
  • OP that is terrible - hope Tesco CS sort it out for you. I had a complaint recently and they were a pile of pap, hopefully they will investigate your complaint fully it is totally unacceptable to be spoken to like that.

I honestly cannot believe what happened to me tonight. I finished my grocery shopping at Tesco around midnight (work shifts) and pulled into their petrol station. I put my card into the fuel pump and started getting fuel but after about a pounds worth the pump seemed the run empty and no more fuel would come out. I moved to the next pump down and placed my card in the machine but got an error code so went up to the cabin desk. A middle aged female employee seemed to be cashing up (her shift obviously ends at midnight) and i explained wht had happened. She said that a card can only be used once a day to prevent fraud (fair enough) but i explained that its the only card i had on me so what could i do as my car was almost completely empty. She said there was nothing she could do (actually why couldnt she have taken a card payment in the cabin) and after getting nowhere asked if could speak to her manager. She said "F-Off, i havent got time for this", closed the communication window and turned her back on me and continued cashing. I was totally FURIOUS and just stood there tapping on the window shouting 'GET ME A MANAGER NOW'. After two mins of ignoring me at point blank range she went "Go to the store if you want a manager" so despite being knackered drove back to the store and explained all to the night manager person who has took my details. I wouldnt mind but up to the point of her swearing and turning her back on me i had been really polite and understanding!! Amazing!

The problem is at the end of the day its your word against hers, and if she denies it then what can be done. Sometimes you have to be pragmatic about these things. Nothing will ever happen in these circumstances unless there are INDEPENDENT witnesses who can verify a/your story.

Disagree.Until the person is spoken to, we dont know what they will say.Your answer is far too legalistic and simplistic. How can you say nothing will happen? if the person is interviewed by personnel and admits it,you dont need witnesses. Before you say that will never happen-it does.I think the bigger problem will be getting tesco to reply first.

wow I did not think that you would take me literally when I said nothing will happen, yes your right my answer is legalistic, and yes your right my answer is simplistic, and yes I could give a 10 page answer, but in my opinion my 10 page answer would still equal the same thing ----nothing will happen in the end.

Do you really think the member of staff is going to "yeah your right boss I did do it". Even if it does happen which you say it does(and I have no reason to disbelieve that) I bet it is rare.

And of course it goes without saying that you dont need a witness in that case because the member of staff is admitting their own misconduct.

Yes tesco may reply and yes they may even apologise and yes you might get a £5 - £10 gesture of goodwill voucher, and yes the OP may complain because of the principle, but then what.

Sometimes life is too short to get all stressed out, you know what, SOMETIMES its easier to let things go instead of stressing with firing off letters and getting all worked up in the hope that you get a letter of apology and a few quid voucher.

Yes-not all staff are liars through and through. What they did was wrong-maybe they had a bad day-no excuse.I am not convinced the OP is motivated by their desire for a gift voucher. As for staff telling the truth being rare-I would disagree. But it is entirely possible this person will lie-I have never felt the need to lie about mistakes i have made at work, have you?

We all have bad days, but most of us manage not to shout obscenities at people. Pursue this. How dare she speak to people like that and get away with it.

    Persue it!!

She had absolutely no right to speak to you in that way at all. Imagine if it had been an elderly person!! She needs to be reprimanded and maybe took off dealing face to face with customers and put into the back somewhere.

As said before, I should imagine it has been videoed as they normally have cameras there in petrol stations for the safety of the staff and so her ignoring you and turning her back on you should of been caught at least.

If you have a problem with tesco's then customer services is not the way to go. They are absolutely incompetant. Just go as high up as possible and let them know how poorly the staff treat you, mebbe one day then they will actually start looking into their poor customer services!!
I live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here :)

To say I have not lied in the past would be a lie (im talking about small things mind you). However telling somone to f-off is not a mistake. Its something that most would be sacked for, therefore there is a lot more at stake, and thus if it was me I would lie, to avoid getting the gooner.

I did not say that the OP is motivated by a gift voucher nor did I imply it, and I fully believe what the op says.

People do lie though and in this life we only know what were told.

I would ring the local rag me and get them to do a story on it. Disgraceful!
    I love this site
