Am beginning to feel much better, still exhausted but better.

I was given a gift of £100 on Friday to make up for my lost wages and to treat myself to something. (More blubbing- not hard at the moment).
So got back on track almost financially. Got money into bank and have ordered OH's fleece and a couple of other bits from Leeds website, so thats a bonus. Have saved enough to get my haircut next week in time for Christmas which will be a big boost.

The weekend was a disaster, took BIL to out of hours doctor and he's got flu and bronchitis (also a severe asmatic) and then spent 3 hours trying to get his perscription. The doctor had put the wrong dose on it and unbelivable as it is pharacists can not contact out of hours doctors easily!:eek:You know you've been in Tescos to long when you know what the next Christmas song is going to be on the awful piped music:eek:Got nothing done all weekend!
Anyhow, after work yesterday got my kitchen properly cleaned for first time in 3 weeks and other than paperwork shredding got all done that I planned.

At the moment am doing small daily lists, minute baby steps but each achievement makes me feel a bit more positive. More LATER.

  • Hiya, Fab news about the money gift :j:j:j. Don't know about you but I feel its all the better when you are in a jam and get a money boost.

Sorry your Bill is poorly now too, is he working, will he get paid sick leave.

Baby steps are brilliant.......thats what I find best. I have in the past made huge sweeping changes and just packed it all in after a few weeks (if that). Small steps are easier to digest and keep to. I don't feel I am working against myself that way.

Good you are feeling a lot more up beat and positive.

    :)

Had a very productive day, but think today's list was too long!

    Got Done:
Washing dried inside on racks and outside:j
    Chilli cooking in slow cooker
Made sausage rolls (forgot to buy for OH's pack up and now having made them wonder why I buy them - no comparison)
Made chocolate cake (for rum truffles)
    Made Twinks Hobknobs
Made chocolate fudge (setting I hope)
Given both bedrooms a really good pre Christmas clean.
Got shredding done.(Saved for hamper bases)
Escorted BIL to post office - he made it:j
    I haven't yet made meatballs for tea:eek:

Just having a cuppa and 5 mins then will prepare tea
    and collapse for the evening.

    Debate amongst yourselves:
Homemade sausage rolls cost £2 for sausage meat, a few pence for onion and 20 mins cooking but made 12.
OH likes Value sausage rolls at £1 for 8.
Is it better to make from scratch(yummy) or buy and be MSE?

Home from work, fed myself and now on to todays list.
    Ironing
    Dolls clothes
Quick tidy in living room (if time allows)

Dinner prepared yesterday so just needs cooking.

Beau: The washing nearly dried outside:jBut I live in a much milder area than you, thank goodness.

The fudge set and I tested a piece with breakfast(just couln't wait), very rich and rather yummy.

The marathon sweetie making in the next few days are to go in my hampers. I'm trying to be as frugal as I can with Christmas.

    Today's list:

    Clean conservatory (dumping ground)
    Good clean of living room
    Dolls clothes
    Make rum truffles
Menu plan for the next week or so

Have been to the old ladies house and done a bit more clearing (she died last week) and can't do much more of preparation of the house for the wake until Tuesday- its sad clearing away the deceased personal bits and bobs, but at least I can be more detached than her family.

It's such a beautiful day here I have taken advantage and washed throws and cushion covers and got them blowing merrily.

I'm thinking more positively most of the time - thinking get fresh air into the house and let the negativity and illness out. OH just thinks its freezing!:eek:I don't care it's making me feel better.
Just wish now I could seperate the argument between heartand head about Christmas!

Hiya, robsmum glad you are in a more positive mood :j. Can you clear something up for me is Bill you OH or someone you help out ?

Just wish now I could separate the argument between heart and head about Christmas!

Is this an all rounder or presents for your OH ? Is OH on board with the money saving.

While sorting out my junk, I have put aside three presents that my other half has bought me in the past and I have never used. I hate the thought of him saving and spending his bit pocket money on stuff I just do not want. What a total waste of how ever much. So we have had a chat and decided just to buy one small present each to open on Christmas morning. I am 53 and he is 62, we have each other and good health and both work. Children and grandchildren are healthy. The only thing I want is to be debt free. Once i get debt free, we can start to save and begin to have the live we should have had for years, if it was not for my stupidity.

I am more looking to-wards, days out walking, with ruck sack and picnic ( flask of soup if its cold), swimming, exhibitions, library, galleries etc. I used to think we had to go away in a fab hotel for a good time away........after being on this site and doing some Internet research............... I have so found out different. In past years i have thought, Eee will he or she like this or that, is it enough etc. Not this year, I have chose with thought each a gift, not expensive. I made my best friends birthday gift last year, it was a photograph album with pictures of lots of our days out in it, with comments and captions on each photograph. I was very apprehensive about giving it to her, as we always did expensive gifts ( I just did not have the money this year) She was over the moon with it, said it was the best of all her gifts, she will treasure it and I had left spaces to add to it.

I rambled on a bit, to cut it short, lots of ways to show love and care without being too materialistic. the whole idea of Christmas now is so commercial.

    :)

    Hi BlueJeans:
Thanks for your lovely reply - I just love your down to earth Northern approach!:jMy parents were both Yorkshire folk and I was born in Leeds so guess it's in my genes somewhere.

BIL - is actually my ex-brother in law and lives across the road. Has done for 2 years now. Long story for another place but basically my sister treated him very badly and we have always been good friends.

My OH is very onboard about being MSE but goes completly O>T>T with present buying for me at Christmas and birthdays (a hang up from his awful childhood), he doesn't mind about not having much to open but then tells me how many presents I've got! Which just makes me feel bad:eek::eek::eek: I can't convince him to do otherwise but can't stop myself from feeling bad that I can't get him a little bit more.

Anyhow, today been quite productive - got cleaning done so far and will maybe make truffles in an hour or so.
