  • Thank you to my generous friend (you know who you are) and the true meaning of Christmas reveals itself - it's always there just have to trust.

I have been in some really desperate states, many times in the past. But something has always turned up or I have found a way around it. Its amazing how resourcefully we can be when we really have to be. And in my darkest times, I have always woken up the following day and lived another day. I do not mean to trivialize anyones situations, just that the next day will always dawn and we will find the strength to continue. Restores your faith in Life when something nice happens, gives you a helping push to fight on.

This is so true! The bad weather and extreme cold has also shown me the nicer side of people. B.I.L spent Sunday firstly making the little boy next door(single mum) the biggest snowman I've ever seen. He then cleared his, neighbours both sides and our paths. Then in -11 got all the snow off our car, de-iced it and then covered it with a tarpaulin so it was easy for OH.
I went and checked on 2 elderly ladies and found their paths had been cleared.

Got last of gift shopping today with B.I.L just last bits of food on Thursday evening and flowers for house and Mum's church bench and that's it.

    Lists still too big!

Had a lovely Christmas and then away at my brothers for New Year (lovely). Back at work again, despite coming back from brother's with a cold and hacking cough.

Got loads of useful things for Christmas and fun things too. I now have a heater for my greenhouse (shame I've lost most of my plants), a super watering can, a very serious jelly bag, more toiletries than Superdrug!
All very helpful for my MSE year.

I have loads of plans for 2011 but haven't quite formulated them yet - that's the plan for this weekend.
I do intend to be even more MSE than last year.

Have started well: NSD Sat,Sun and Monday and today. Went into town yesterday and bought all Christmas Cards and wrapping paper in the sales, stocked up on all herbs and spices from health food shop(much cheaper than supermarket)and got £3.20 for used paperbacks in new second hand book shop!

Right off to begin getting some resemblance of order back into my house - starting with the kitchen:eek:

Downstairs now all sparkling and back to my usual standard. Am full of cold(thanks S.I.L) but at least it only appears to be a cold.
Upstairs can wait for another day or so.

Done freezer inventory and now have to menu plan for a fortnight. So far I have thrown nothing away food wise over Christmas/ New Year, which I'm really impressed with; MSE is definately teaching me something.
Part of my New Year plans is to cook more from scratch and as seasonally as possible.

Found a tip on someone's diary about keeping a spending diary but also listing any wasted money ie; food thrown away, bank charges, late payments etc so I'm going to adopt that one.

Off to prep shepherds pie for dinner and do one load of ironing.

Ended up going sick on Friday as nose was constantly dripping:eek:Have been banished into the spare room (have to be careful with OH and viruses). Had 1st good nights sleep last night for weeks, have started taking echinacea and am on the mend. Saw Doctor tonight and it's a virus and she thinks am over the worst. I do hope so as I'm fed up of lurgies.

    New Year Plan:
To spend an hour a week on each of the following areas:
    1) Financial - really get to grips with this and to be as MSE as possible
    2) Job - find a new one and look at starting a money making side line/business (not sure what yet)
    3) Health and Wellbeing - look after all aspects of health and make the most of what I've got.
    4) Knowledge, learning and new experiemces - to stimulate my brain and move from my comfort zone.

Got note books for each area and am going to really go for tackling these areas, scribbling ideas and progress down.
    That's it for today.

Last day of freedom for this week today and am cracking on with my to do lists:

Have done the awful job of cleaning the deep fat fryer:eek: (Discovered recently if you do the awful/dreaded/put off jobs first they're never as bad)

Am giving upstairs a blitz, beds changed and washing on.

It's freezing but all the windows open and got some fresh air flowing through the house.

This afternoon am planning my 1st hour session on finding work- going to start my CV.

    Catch up later.

Day off today:j This is the first normal week since before Christmas, so at last am back in my routine.

Progress has been steady for the last couple of weeks.

I have devised my notebooks for my plans and am enjoying the challenge.

Financial - no real change there in the amounts coming in:( but have had 5 NSD each week:jand thrown a big zero away:j Very proud of that!

Job - have written my CV and a friend from here is tweeking it a bit (she's in HR) so once I get it back it can go out there. Have 2 applications to fill in for community support work.

Health and Wellbeing - Done special flossing of teeth every day,got dental appointment in 2 weeks. Done face creams day and night for 2 weeks and skin a bit less dry:j Got de-fuzzed:j

Knowledge - been asked to look at starting a residents association, so doing some planning for that at moment.:j (Different interest)

Todays plan is weekly housework blitz, bigger blitz on our bedroom and cooking. Stilton and Leek quiches and maybe muffins. Got another 12 free eggs last night.:j Being very MSE I am going to attempt to make edible pastry from scratch, just never been able to do it before - but last year I couldn't make jam!

Been and done the old ladies house, her family are in the process of clearing it and it's quite sad really. They were here at the weekend and the dust and mess left was unbelivable:eek:

Now of to do a quick tidy and organize of mine for the weekend, 2 week menu plan and some of my planwork.
