What a difference a year can make! Last year anything requiring a sugar thermometer was a big "no, no" - this year loads and jams, chutneys and now sweets made, with a big "no problem, I'll have a go":j
Have made rum truffles, chocolate fudge and now pistachio nougat all to go into hampers. Next week get to start assembling them:j

OH and I been shopping today and ticked loads of the lists, so definately much more positive.

Rather have a gift for a fiver, knowing it had thought and love in it..........than a exspensive gift that is meant to look WOW.

Day off today - in theory! Am going to prepare the old ladies house for the funeral tommorow. Have starched all my table cloths:eek: and did the flowers yesterday. Done 3 arrangements of pale lemon rosebuds, lisianthus, mauve freesia and white chyrsanths and baby's breath, they look lovely.

After that have to go and clean/sort BIL's house (more money) and do some more bits on mine,

Packed up my 1st hamper yesterday for an elderly friend: small jars of homemade raspberry jam, damson jelly, tomato chutney, caramalised onion relish, nougat, chocolate fudge, rum truffles, shortbread and a tiny cyclaman in a gold pot. Am quite impressed and it cost only a few pounds ( going to work it out later).

If I can work out how to do it I'll put some pictures on.

Right better get a move on!

Got old ladies house sorted and prepared for tommorow, it looks so lovely, shame she isn't here to see it, but it will at least make it easier for her family when they arrive.
    Got B.I.L.S house done.
    Not even started on mine:eek:

Got mad with my boss earlier (fortunately at home and not at work) - we agreed yesterday that I wouldn't work on Christmas Eve but would do the thursday instead. Great!
Get a text this morning"having thought more about it, would like you to come in Christmas Eve please to clean utility and kitchen, so you will do less hours on Thursday" - what a cheek! Am I not allowed to have a life? I've got to get out of there a.s.a.p:eek:

Great result just now: Bank hadn't paid my council tax for no apparent reason. After being on hold for 15 mins they have paid it now and credited me £10 compensation:Tand I also had £56 more in the bank than I thought.

Right cuppa then must prepare tea as am out tonight.

Quick update from the last couple of days.

The 1st hamper was recieved very well, the lady was delighted. Had a long chat with her about my disillusionment about work and she's made me think differently about it. Having told me what I know, that the job is demoralising me, not good for my mental health etc and accepting that I need to work I am to apply for anything near suitable after Christmas and also to think" This is not my main job - that's coming this is temporary" - when I finally accepted that I found I feel differently, more empowered.:j

The funeral was really nice and her family appreciated all my work on the house and flowers. Her family gave me her set of weighing scales complete with weights. They're an original set of Salter scales and the old lady had said to make sure I got them! I was thrilled.:j
I have to help myself to any of her baking tins that I can use also. Juast got to clear up after the funeral now - did the worst of it but was waiting for the trodden in mud to dry - the down side of rural life.

Thank you to my generous friend (you know who you are) and the true meaning of Christmas reveals itself - it's always there just have to trust.

Have lists, lists and more lists but am hoping to tick a lot off this weekend.
OH's presents have arrived from the Leeds shop and have FINALLY HAD MY HAIRCUT!:j

Got a lot done from the lists over the weekend but now the're even bigger!

We have loads of snow, that's now frozen and the sky looks full of it. -2 at the moment and temperature dropping rapidly. Will be happier once OH is home and then we'll judge tommorow when it comes.

Walked to work in -6 temperatures this morning but wasn't too bad underfoot. Been and sorted out the old ladies house after the funeral and gladly the plumber has been and drained all the water, so there's no worry there.

Last present shopping tommorow with B.I.L. and he's buying me lunch:j

Right off to tackle some 15 minute burts and get these lists reduced.

  • lol list even bigger. I think we just keep adding to them and they don't go down. Going out this morning to my local town for a few bits, then food shopping tomorrow and thats it for me. No more spending. My new shiny diary ready for 2011.

    :)
