Surnames are irrelevant, what matters is whether you fit the particular Insurer definition of a "Family".
You will find this on their website typically on the part of the website which provides quotes or in the Policy Wording under the heading "Meaning of Words"0 -
Thanks for that, I'll ring them in the morning, went through the 'meaning of words' jargon and it's quite baffling!
I'm not registered at the same address either so that could prove to be a small problem, I'll update on the outcome!
Thanks again0 -
I have a question regarding Travel Insurance. My and my partner are getting married in October and are going to Mexico for our Honeymoon. Unfortunately my partner got taken into hospital in March with pneumonia, she is much better now, but recently she has been given a diagnosis from her local surgery of suspected mild COPD. We don't really agree with that outcome but never the less COPD is on her medical file, there seems to be no definition on the severity of this condition. I have shopped around and putting COPD puts our policy up to nearly £120+ depending on where we go, however I have noticed if we put in a separate quote for my partner and another for myself the price drops considerably. I have seen my partners quote go down to £50 and my own quote being approx. £25.
Obviously we will be living together (we currently are) is there any reason why we can't get cover separately and we must do it as a couple?
It seems unfair that my part of the policy is being loaded because of my partners condition.
Any advise?
Thanks

Maybe not answering the question asked, this might be helpful. A friend had COPD. They have the free insurance with the Nationwide FlexAccount and were told that they didn't need to declare the COPD as they are not on medication for it.0

I followed the advice given but was very disappointed with Protect Your Bubble, I thought they were going to cover me. After a visit to my doctor at their request and three long telephone calls later they said they could not cover me. I eventually got cover with All Clear Insurance online at a reasonable price which covered all my medical stuff.0

Be careful - I used MSE to find travel insurance for oldies - I need annual cover for more than 31 days at a time since I book my travel on the cheapest days for a notional 'month' - could be 29, 30, 31, 32 days - you get the idea.
I was offered cover by DIRECT TRAVEL with options for 31, 45 and 60 day trips. I followed the link, spoke to someone who I thought worked for the company and took the 45 day option.
On receiving the documentation I read the small print and discovered that cover was limited to 31 days on all policy options for the over-65s - not at all what I wanted and not what I thought I had bought.
I contacted the company - they informed me that the phone link form the MSE website goes to MSE, not to them and that I should have been warned. It was too late to organise another policy so I accepted a refund down to the 31-day cost - good job I'm only away for 29 days this time?
Anyone know of a company that offers what I'm looking for?0 -
Hope someone might give me some advise! I have booked to go to Portugal at the end of October and have just had tests which show I will probably need a stent inserted to help with a heart condition. I dont know when the procedure will be done and therefore dont know when to try and get cover.
I know I will have to declare a pre-existing medical condition but should I try and take it out before the procedure or after. Also, any suggestions on who to go to for the insurance would be welcome.0 -
It may be of interest to posters to know that I have recently bought an annual multi-trip policy, I have pre-existing medical conditions and needed cover for a Caribbean cruise sailing from the US.. The cost for this was quite expensive, but I was then told that if I was only transiting the US and would not be staying longer than 48 hours, they would cover me at a much lower cost.So although the policy states cover is worldwide excluding Canada and the US,the policy booklet clearly states that I am covered for 48 hours in the US.0

Hopefully someone can help with this - I am looking for a travel insurance policy which covers my glasses, and prescription sunglasses. I have found a couple which cover both, but only up to either £150 or £200. This would be enough for my sunglassess, but not my glasses (I need £270). Boots will insure my glasses up to £300, but exclude my sunglasses.
My glasses are covered under my home insurance, but claiming on that wouldn't include getting an emergency prescription to me, and getting me replacement glasses while still on my holiday, as I would have to go through their claims process. Plus I would lose my no claims discount.
Does anyone know of any insurer who wold cover both up to the amount I need? Or do I need to decide between covering just my glasses fully, or having the sunglasses fully covered and the specs only partly?
Thanks in advance0 -

I know it's not been very long, but can anyone advise on this? Holiday is booked and I'd like to sort insurance ASAP. Is it worth cross-posting in the insurance thread?0
