Have a look through the thread, I've recommended a couple of companies that should be able to help.0

I have had a policy with the above for several years but this is my 1st claim. Mine should be pretty simple and straightforward for a doctor referral for a 1 day stomach bug when away. Insurers have already come back to me asking for documents which I had already supplied to them to prove dates of trip.
Has anyone else had a previous claim? Did they pay up in the end?0 -
I've just realised that my home insurance covers personal possessions while out of the country for up to 60 days, up to £2000. (I phoned them to check I'd read the small print right.)
The Cheap Travel Insurance article recommends £750 cover for baggage in its minimum cover criteria. But this means I can buy the no-frills travel insurance without bothering about the personal possessions which seems to cost about £10 more usually. So it's well worth checking your home insurance!
With pre-existing medical conditions, I'm looking at anything between £35 and £81 for my son and me for a couple of weeks in Europe - so I thought it worth sharing this little extra bit saved.0 -
NATIONWIDE have the ultimate way for avoiding Travel Insurance claims associated with their current account. They do not send out Claim Forms; I have been trying for 7 months to get one. They promise to send and then do not. I even went to the Branch twice and listened to their phone calls - even that brought no forms! As this is a selling point for their current account, I am sure they must be acting fraudulently.0

Hi and welcome!
I believe you can go to the Ombudsman any time from 8 weeks after you first made a complaint - if you haven't officially complained, I would do! (The Which? website which.co.uk is very good on effective ways of complaining.)
You may find that simply mentioning you're prepared to take it further will kick them into action.
No idea if the Ombudsman is the right person, but willingness to take it that far should make them take you seriously.
Take heart: I had a complaint with Barclays (not insurance related) which I chased loads of times, mainly without response - then they started sending letters saying they hadn't "been able to" resolve it, give them another month... I wasn't owed money* so I gave up. (I already knew they don't automatically pay compensation if you haven't lost money through their error.)
Then out of the blue, I got a long letter listing the various things - most of them being failure to reply(!) - and a large compensation amount paid into my account! Very timely it was too.
* The error was: they attached my ex's new address to my name when he was taken off our joint account. Then when I changed my name, they sent MY cheque books, in my new name, to HIS new address - which had never been mine. Completely shocking. If I'd been keeping my new name secret from him, say he was violent or something, it could have been much worse. Still a very serious error. Heaven knows why they couldn't just say sorry the first time I brought it to them.0 -

Just make sure, whoever you choose, that you check if they will cover her in the even of something happening with the family she is with. If one of them has pre-existing conditions or has problems when away, she may not be covered if the holiday is cancelled.0

Hi all, new to this forum stuff but can't get the info I want form any where online...or I'm just not searching properly!
I'm traveling with my partner and 2 children at end of august to Mexico and was looking for travel insurance..the problem is that my partner and my eldest (step-daughter) have different surnames to that of myself and our youngest
I.e mine Smith, youngest Smith, partner Jones and step daughter Warrens
Isit possible to get travel insurance that would cover us all even thou we have different surnames!
Any sort of help would be much appreciated
Also didn't know how to put new post so I just tapped on reply, sorry if different to your subject0 -
Yes, you can just put all your names on the insurance just make sure that all the names are relationship to one another is included. You should be fine putting it down as a family and not a group (that might affect the cost).0
