Hi there, I have annual travel insurance with LV and 3 months ago I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I have had a lumpectomy and am due to begin Radiotherapy shortly and this will be followed by Medication for 5 years. I also have a holiday booked to Cyprus for this coming May. Does anybody know how I stand with regards to this insurance? Do I have to declare my medical condition now or can I wait until I renew my policy in August? Any help/info would be gratefully received. Thx0

It is essential you notify the insurers. Wishing you all the best.0 -
HolidaySafe premier limited cover beware!ricktravers wrote: »The first leg of my return journey to the UK was cancelled by the airline (a USA domestic flight). They booked me on their next flight, but that arrived too late to catch the second leg from Los Angeles to London on a different airline. I had to buy a new ticket for that second leg and HolidaySafe Premier did NOT cover that. I think a travel policy that does not cover the return journey does NOT qualify as a "Top Value" policy, and I would even go so far as to say it doesn't even qualify as "Travel insurance".
^^^I agree and also have HolidaySafe premier^^^
Also agree with VJC lower down.
I used HolidaySafe on recommendation from this site which I respect and trust but to great and costly disappointment... I thought it wasn't necessary to read the policy in detail as this site had already done this before recommending - WRONG BEWARE!!
Our flight home was cancelled due to the flooding in Montpelier
Google "montpellier-flooded-thousands-stranded-storms-hit-south-france"
No 'adverse weather conditions" in the policy but for a similar cost my partners policy did include.
Cost me additional £500 to get home via Barcelona (long story) yet HoidaySafe premium annual European policy only paid £150! Very dissapointed and cannot recommend.
The whole idea of a 'premium' travel insurance policy is that for any problem such as adverse weather conditions that unexpected occur you are covered. I wasn't
Wont' use again.

Does anyone know if you can buy travel insurance without the medical bundle. I have private medical and am covered already for the countries I want to visit, but still want cancellation and curtailment cover etc?
Paying double seems crazy and I'm sure that the Medical aspect of the insurance will be the most expensive element of most travel insurance.
I live in spain and will be traveling to South Africa via London.0 -
I am looking for the best long term travel insurance for a trip to the USA where I will eventually be looking for a career. Initially I am orienteering myself and staying with relatives. I will be traveling around the USA and possibly Mexico and the Carribean. I require travel insurance for at least six months. I completed my degree in summer 2014 so can no longer be considered a student as I am 25 years old. If I can commence a career I will be able to take out USA insurance but until then I need very good cover but am unsure as to exactly what that might consist of and what levels of monetary cover I should aim for.
Any recommendations?0 -
It's unclear form any of the policies I've read: if you have a connecting flight through the US, do you need a policy that covers the US or not?0

Hi, does anyone have any particular recommendations for which comparison site we should use for a 'group' (not family) insurance?
We are a youth group, so 3 responsible adults and a bunch of kids not related to us!0 -
I have just read a very worrying thread on a cruise forum. A lady was told by ship Dr that she needed to go to hospital in Barbados. Was taken to a private hospital where they asked for $5000 for admittance. Didn't have the money or credit, so was taken to a public hospital. Her insurance company was contacted and it appears from the story that they would only cover the cost of a public hospital. Her companion has posted that the conditions and treatment in the hospital are not good.
This story really worries me, and my question is: does travel insurance normally only cover the cost of a public hospital? Obviously there are countries where this would not be a problem, but in less developed/poor countries I don't think the standard of the public hospitals would always be acceptable.
We often cruise to the Caribbean and have full worldwide travel insurance with our Nationwide Flex account, with cover by UK Insurance Ltd. Luckily we have never needed to use it, and I have naively felt that the cover would be adequate to UK standards.
I realise the obvious solution is to ring the Insurance company to check, but would probably be given the answer "it depends on the individual case". Also it is Saturday evening, so I am turning to the internet and hoping for a reply! My glass is half full :beer:0 -
I was going to take out a policy with Holiday safe but not after this. Anyone got any recommendations for good experiences with Holiday Insurance companies?0
