I've got two monitors here, not using the second one today, so for the last 2 hours, I've had Firefox on "Reload every 1 second" on that page.
Obviously, the page working would have caught my eye.
    2 hours x 60 minutes x 60 seconds = 7,200 reloads.

    We're being conned.

Damn! I could just do with a new fridge freezer ... but that's all I would consider, not separates.

Anyway, checked the size. I need one that is no greater than 55cm wide - the one being given away is 60cm wide :(

I know you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but a new kitchen to accomodate the one on offer is going to cost me a lot more than the £400 the f/f is worth.

Have to give this one a miss!

    Hi all,

As I advised in my previous posting this afternoon on this thread, please complain to the npower CEO via email. I did this and was contacted by their customer support team to advise me that the website was accepting registrations again. Although it was a slow and cumbersome process to register, I successfully completed it this afternoon. For info, I reckon that I have spent less than 1 hour in total in trying to register (including this afternoon's effort) and I have only attempted to access their website 3 times.

My suggestion is to complain, via email, to the npower CEO and to get customer services to advise you when their website is functioning correctly again rather than everyone spending extra effort registering.

I hope the above helps and good luck.

Where can you see that there are over 500,000?
If you click on the link on the first page it takes you to the article on MSE. At the bottom it says:-

This doesn't mean that this many people have applied though :)

Martin says in the page about the free fridges:

The reason we managed to blag these exclusively for MoneySavers, is we were given some misinformation about a recent energy monitor deal, and this is to make up for that (to clarify there's no commercial link though)

How come the offer is on other sites as well and N Power themselves were advising people to go to offeroasis yesterday ?

I think Martin's been fibbed to. Either that or they were intended for MSE folk but everyone else has just pinched the link.

On which subject - to those suggesting going via offeroasis instead - the link on both websites is identical, so there's absolutely no difference in the chance of getting past the 'high volume' message!

P.S. Can anyone confirm that broadband via a Virgin set-top box counts as a permanently-on router (if I leave the set-top box switched on)?

It will count as a permanent connection, however you will probably need a router similar to this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/169923 - To Split the Connection etc. Or you can get a router, and ring virgin and ask whether they will give to a separate modem as the connection should be faster.

    Hi there
I've just about given up. tried Wednesday and most of today. No luck. Even tried middle of the night about 50 times, when I had to get up for work. 'PLEASE TRY LATER' is all I get EVERY TIME. PHEW I'm exhausted with it.

I've been trying for the last couple of days .. how many people can be trying at this time of night? And I do doubt that they will somehow single out 900 people from MSE for this - after all, the web address seems to be the same for everyone.

Anyway, think I may have to give this up as a bad job - shame as my broadband is 24hr, and my current fridge freezer is a nightmare (it spends every summer slowly heating up the freezer section *sigh*)

Only downside is it not being frost free - but for a freezer that works, I could cope with that.

Still appears to be having problems. Not entirely sure why, given how few moneysavers are presently online on the forums:

  • I have been trying to get onto the site to register since this was posted. But its still not there, page keeps reloading and even at 0300 in the morning or even now 0500 its still down. I think EONs having a laugh at us all.
