I have tried to apply. The 1st attempt took me through the questions and then started reloading the page. Also I have had a go using both internet explorer and firefox and still receiving the call back later high volumes of traffic.

Not sure if I can be bothered to try again yawn
• 2nd day of trying, never got anything except the "we are currently experiencing some performance issues" understatement.

In nearly 12 hours of trying I have not got beyond the please call back later page - this smacks of a massive CON!

Could MSE'ers have been done by Npower? Think Martin needs to find out how many hits they have actually been getting! (at least gets rid of conspiracy theories.)

Martin says in the page about the free fridges:

The reason we managed to blag these exclusively for MoneySavers, is we were given some misinformation about a recent energy monitor deal, and this is to make up for that (to clarify there's no commercial link though)

How come the offer is on other sites as well and N Power themselves were advising people to go to offeroasis yesterday ?

All very odd, I have been trying since yesterday morning to get on with no luck.

Oh well, didnt want a fridge off of them anyway :p :rotfl:

DO NOT Apply for the free smart fridges, If you are near an airport or your Near neighbours are in any way using Radio Communications, e.g. Shortwave, aircraft listening, etc you could be told to stop using it by An OFCOM inspector,,,,
as the Ethernet connection to the Kitchen From the Broadband router is using radio frequencies via the HOUSE Mains wiring to get the signal to the kitchen power socket, these link devices Radiate interference everywhere up & all down the road using the whole house wiring as an antenna..........

Npower have hardcoded their web page at https://www.npower.com/At_Home/Tactical/DynamicDemandTrial/Default.aspx to give the performance problem message (For those using IE as your browser, go to 'View'>'Source' and you will see the error message hardcoded).

I have sent an email to Volker Beckers, who is the npower CEO, to complain and to advise me when the problem will be fixed. As soon as I get any news from npower, I will post an update on the forum.

Npower appear to have been very naive. They have obviously not done appropriate performance testing on the web server to see whether it can adequately handle the MSE user volumes. I envisage that their web server was completely snowed under yesterday and just couldn't handle to volume of hits; so npower have effectively removed the registration page from their web server. The only way that they will be able to fix this is to get a more powerful server, which will cost them money. Another option is to change the registration process.

As soon as I hear anything, I will let you know. For info, Volker Beckers's email address is 'volker.beckers@rwe.com' if anyone else wishes to complain.

You would see this regardless of whether they have deliberately put this in place or the server is actually overloaded and therefore pushing this message. They have probably put this notice in there deliberately though until they can allocate some more resources to the site to allow them to keep their full site running.

I too have been trying at various times of day for over 24 hours to get onto the npower site. Its no wonder the site has crashed, such is the nature of people that everyone will apply to get something for nothing, even if they don't need the appliance, and even if it won't fit in their kitchen. It's the greed of human nature! I wonder if some people are applying more than once to increase their chances, I presume they will stop people doing this.
I really don't think Martin is doing us any favours by posting this kind of offer, the outcome was inevitable. Also, npower should have anticipated the response and been able to deal with it.
I have given up trying now, life is too short, especially in this beautiful weather! Good luck to those who win, I hope they appreciate it.

Interesting, my kitchen is on a separate ring main, so probably wouldn't work anyway.
Martin Lewis is always giving us advice on how to force companies to do things.

How about giving us advice on how to remove ourselves from any part of
MoneySupermarket.com

I hereby withdraw any permission Martin might have implied he gave MoneySupermarket.com to use any of my data. Further more, I do not wish ANY data about me, or any of my posts etc to be held on any computer system held by MoneySupermarket.com or any business it has any commercial interests in.

Rubbish! Mains plug ethernet modulates the signal using the mains as a carrier, not RF
