    Hi Everyone
Im new to this and yes ive just received a letter this morning from this Victor Richards from Mackenzie Hall limited. I re-married 2 years ago and moved home and the letter is address to me in my old married name but my new address stating they are attempting to contact me regarding a personal matter and have been provided my address as being the possible residential details for our subject (im a subject now!!!!) and if I am the person then please contact them IMMEDIATELY whereupon further detailed information can be provided. It also states that if im not the person named and have any information regarding the persons possible whereabouts to contact their investigatiion team in confidence. I did telephone but thankfully for me no one answered so I decided to try the email address instead to try and find out what it was all about. I couldnt believe reading all the threads but it aint half reassuring that im not the only one to have received one.
As far as I am aware I have no old debt so I cant understand receiving this letter unless they are just trying it on!!!
Can anyone please reassure me that the best thing to do with this letter is to burn it or should I keep it as a keepsake surely these cowboys shouldnt be able to get away with it

I received a letter today addressed to a chap who used to live here some years ago. Same as above wanting info on his whereabouts if he wasn`t here. The chap in question is in fact my cousin who rented my house from me for a few months after I bought it. He ripped me off for rent money and I have not spoken to him since. I honestly don`t know where he is iether but his parents live near me so I have emailed MH with their address.

I have also put on the email that I don`t want any further correspondence sending here for this chap and that if he has debt listed at this address I would like to know so that I can it sorted out.

After reading this I am not sure if I have done the right thing. I am not bothered about giving out his parents address cos they covered for him when he left here owing rent so as far as I am concerned he gets what is coming to him.

I too have recieved a letter this morning from this company, from Victor Richards.

I have checked my credit file with experian and have no outstanding debts, late payments, nothing.

Should I just ignore the letter and hope they go away? Or are they likely to persue me for something I dont owe?

    Many thanks

I recived a letter identical to yours, and it terrified me as i have no debt that i know of either, i made the mistake of phoning these losers and they were so nasty, i would not waste money phoning them, i went to my local advice centre and showed them the letter and they told me that any debt that is six years old or more is not recoverable, and she felt they were just trying it on, she told me to throw the letter in the bin and not worry, she also said that the letter is a photo copy not even an original with a printed signature, i have not heard any more from them, it is a couple of weeks now since the letter came so i am hoping i wont hear anymore, try not to worry they are just a pathetic bunch of losers.

Hello everyone. Like you all, I have also received a letter from Mackenzie Hall claiming I owe over £2000 to a bank that I have not had an account with since 2001. My query is this:

I DID owe a sum of money to this particular bank in 2001 but due to marital breakdown, redundancy etc, I declared myself bankrupt. This debt is over 6 years old. Can this debt be claimed after 6 years. I was under the impression that bankruptcy wiped your debts clean and they couldn't come chasing the money at a later date. I still have all my bankruptcy paperwork but it says nothing about this.

I tried to contact Mackenzie Hall but their phone is permanently engaged and I cannot get through to them.

    What should I do?

First thing is don't phone them.

Your post is not clear, do you mean that your bankruptcy proceedings do not include this debt? Or that it does not include anything about chasing the money at a later date?

If the debt was included in the bankruptcy, then you have nothing to worry about. If you did not disclose it to the OR then that would be a different matter.

However, if the debt is over 6 years old, or you have not had any correspondence for six years, then the debt is statute barred. This means after 6 years the debt can not be actioned in court.

I would guess that because MH are a bunch of spineless tw&ts, they will have purchased for a few quid a debt that is technically uncollectable, to then harass and bully you for.

Establish the basis of the debt first, then do nothing. MH will bluff and bluster, but they know the legality of collecting stature barred debts and just rely on the consumers ignorance.

Do not make any offer to pay, and do not acknowledge the debt in any manner.

If the debt is pre-your bankruptcy, then there is NOTHING that these vultures can do.
Even if you do not declare every debt when you declare bankruptcy, your bankruptcy will have been published in the London Gazette and any creditors would have had the opportunity to contact your OR/Trustee for any 'alleged debts' to be included in your bankruptcy estate.
Do NOT phone them - if they phone you, then simply state your bankruptcy date and number, then put the phone down.

    Hi

I have received in the post a letter form a company called Mackenzie Hall. They say they are trying to contact me concerning a 'personal matter'. The letter is on photocopied headed paper and a printed signature. So far I have not contacted them and have no intention of doing so until they contact me with a specific request.

I have done google searches and found they are a debt collection service specialising in old or unrecoverable debts. I did have a CCJ from approx 96/97. I knew about this from a credit report done in 97. However no-one has ever contacted me to sayI owe them money, am in debt, are chasing debt etc etc.

I have 2 questions as follows:

    1) Has anyone else come across Mackenzie Hall and what were their experiences?

    2) Where do I stand, legally, with having to pay CCJ?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

My son has got one of these, funny enough to day, they trying to find where he lived. He said he will ignore it, its this ok. To do so, l would not like him to be hounded for any ccjs, which l know he has paid up in the past..

any advice will be grateful, ty xxx lindann xx

My husband got a letter this morn from MH and whilst I was at work decided to phone them. They said he had a sky debt for £16.48 - he supposedly had this at an old address from over 7 years ago. He said it could be and was/is about to send a cheque off - what now - should he still send it off? will they keep hassling the fact he has been in contact? he has had credit checks done in the last year to say he has no debt
    TIA
