Thanks for the quick response Gordon.

Would you recommend we credit check my wife in the meantime or this a bad idea?

    Thanks again.

I have sent off for a report, just for Ammunition really, i cant imagine it can make much difference, they already have a name.

By all means, get her report...it can't hurt. If the alleged debt is over 10 years old, the chances are it won't show on there anyway.

Yes, they have a name, but I don't think they should have a link from previous addresses in that name to current address and name - all credit / mortgages etc. have been in my name for the last two addresses and seven years.

I must admit, it is very odd, i have no idea how they got mine, the only thing i can think of is i recently ran for Parish Council in my village and of course my name gets put 'Out there'. Still very disconcerting.

I just called the CAB, and when i asked his advice, he snorted and same "Ignore them,.:D:D

I'd love to ignore them but...

...just checked my wifes credit worthyness - Experian give her a great credit score but Equifax shows 4 MH credit checks on the same day, 2 at our previous address and 2 at our current address. All of these are in her previous married name and detailed as outstanding debt. Now that can't look good on someones credit file. Were MH allowed to do these without permission and is there a way to get them removed? :(

I just followed your lead and got an Equifax credit score online, and it showed exactly what i thought, i.e no outstanding bills and no CCJ's, the strange thing is Mackenzie Hall, did a search on my Current Address only, not the Address i though the problem might be at...Strange.

It does tell you how to het them removed if you scan down. Although there is a lot to read.

Pretty sure those searches don't show up to lenders. Only searches relating to getting credit show up.

The searches MH have done show up in Table 1 - Credit searches. Am I right in thinking that these will show up to other lenders? Also, am I correct in thinking that lenders need permission to carry out these searches?

I have read about the process of getting these removed but Equifax say that the first step is to contact the company who requested the search - and I don't want to begin any dialogue with MH unless absolutely necessary.
