Highly doubt it. They can get into a lot of trouble if someone does turn up and you report them to the FOS.

In the very slim chance someone does turn up, call the Police as they are trespassing on your property.
  • Thank you for the help
Just one things, can I put in writing to the company I would ring the police if anyone stepped onto our property?
  • thats sound

Well, further to the above, i've now received a letter from Cabot Financial to say that they are unable to provide original documentation but have requested the information from the original creditors (MBNA/Mastercard) and should be able to get back to me within 12 days and if not they will contact me to inform me as to what is happening etc.

    Sigh.

    :(

Well, finally, after no less than two more letters from Cabot to inform me that they were still searching for my information, i've received a letter from them to say they have been unable to provide me with the requested information. They will apparently continue to request the information from the original lender etc and in the meantime my (non existent) account is on hold until such time as they can comply with my request..............?!?!

Be mindful that if they do find the information they require, they'll start chasing again.

Indeed they might however, if they are simply 'making up' the debt and therefore cannot retrieve the information then at least I won't be throwing money away to a bunch of con artists! The reason I requested the information in the first place is because I simply could not remember or recognise the debt. If they pitch up with something genuine, above board, signed by me etc. then I will be happy to give them my hard earned cash but until that happens they can sing for it!

they r the FUNNIEST DCA ever. they got their knickers in a MAD TWIST wen i wrote to them saying all i could afford was x amount a month and that i was not going to speak to them on the phone. so they started to threaten me by email instead.

they havent taken me to court yet as im still paying and its more than any court would award them. !!!!!!
  • Hi, I got a letter from Mh about a week ago, asking If I was the person who the letter was addressed to, and if so, could I contact them soon as poss, so I rang them from my mobile & they asked my details, I said can I just stop you there.
I am not giving my postcode & address till you tell me what its about, This woman then replied have a good day then Mr T, so yesterday I got another letter saying I owed £1400 & I could have a redused settlement if I paid it off in the next 2 days of £587.
so the wife is saying just pay it off, so I rang them from my mobile again, and gave my Ref number & I asked them what loan they are on about & did they have proof that I owed this money ? I do owe it like, but thats not the point, It could be anyone, and this loan was over 15 years ago, and they done the same thing and asked for my address and postcode & I refused to give it, saying this letter was forewarded onto me, and they then said, no address, no info Goodbye.
    Fricken arrogant To**ers
can they still get this loan back after all this time ?
