Re my last post had a letter from these ******* stating that they were trying to locate me for a personal matter, I was advised to put letter in bin/ignore it as it was a fishing trip.

Second letter has know arrived stating I owe £5000 to Lloyds/TSB and they will take court action etc etc... and I need to contact them to make payment.

I am 99% sure that this debt is statute barred as is over six years old.

Do I continue to ignore them or contact them?

    Many Thanks

I had a similar letter etc and i've sent them the standard letter requesting specific details (i.e. signed original agreement by me etc) which I found on the national debtline website.

Fill in all your details and the template is completed for you. I enclosed the £1 postal order and I sent it registered mail. Although the letter specifies that they are required to provide me with the information within 12 days I have yet to hear from them and it's been over that.

I'll let you know if/when I receive a reply etc.

Well i've recieved my 'final settlement' offer etc! There seems to be a general "automatic reply" system to these chaps and in view of this fact i've finally lost patience and my personal "computer says no"!!!

Having wasted time and money sending them the standard request for detailed information regarding this alleged debt via recorded delivery, it's plain to see that:

    (a) They are simply ignoring my letter as they claim I ignore theirs; and

    (b) They don't appear to actually have the information I requested.

Well, as i'm not completely stupid, i'm plainly not going to be hoodwinked into throwing a substantial amount of my hard earned cash at these complete strangers to me!!!!

I gave them a fair chance to put forward their case and it appears they have proved to me that they haven't a clue about any alleged debts and are simply trying it on.

I'm ignoring this latest letter and when the next one arrives in approximately three weeks time threatening all sorts of nonsense, I will simply send them the standard harassment letter to be found on National Debt Line and remind them that they have broken the law themselves by not answering my original request (with postal order included) for details pertaining to the debt that they have decided to hound me for!

Honestly, these people must think bullying tactics will get them cash from any Tom, !!!!!! or Harriet!

Nope! It will not do!! They dare to suggest I am ignoring 'em eh? Well, they're going to get a serious taste of that now!!!! Humph!!!!

  • I have had no reply since the 7th of August when I sent the "prove it" letter from this forum. We have recieved no letter or confirmation back that the matter is closed. Should I go ahead with reporting them to trading standards as the letter or just leave it?

    cheers

I've just received a letter in reply to my "request for copy of agreement under section 78 etc". They sent back my postal order and wrote the following:-

    Dear Ms L.J.

We refer to your recent letter and would like to inform you that your account has been passed back to the client as our company is no longer dealing with your account.

This has only been passed back until this request has been fulfilled. Once the documentation has been supplied we will contact you.

    Yours Sincerely

    Mary Gibson
    Compliance Department.

Well, this is as clear as mud!!!! They are 'no longer dealing with my account' but will contact me once documentation is supplied...........yep! Well, we'll have to see what they come back with.

    Sigh!

If anyone's reached the next stage, let me know what to expect eh?

    Ta. :(
  • Last time they wrote to me I ignored them, haven't herd anything since.
  • yes i have heard about that company rude nasty and vile, phone over 10 times a day.
  • My problem is slightly different. I keep getting phonecalls and letters from Mackenzie Hall asking for someone who doesn't live here. I have told them that there is no one here of that name, but they continue to phone (I felt like they didn't believe me).

We have recently moved to this house, and before us, the same couple (not of that name) lived here since the house was built, so I'm not sure where they got their data from.

I've tried to deal with them calmly, but this is now getting stressful. How can I get it to stop?

Well, further to the above, i've now received a letter from Cabot Financial to say that they are unable to provide original documentation but have requested the information from the original creditors (MBNA/Mastercard) and should be able to get back to me within 12 days and if not they will contact me to inform me as to what is happening etc.

    Sigh.

    :(
  • Hi all, sorry to come in on this thread, but was wondering whether any advice could be received! I have on 2 occasions in the last 2 weeks received a 'text' message on my landline phone asking me to call them, they have left a reference number the first time, the second time I new the text message was probably from them so just deleted the message. I always check the web when I get calls/messages from unknown numbers and companies hence finding this and other threads about this company. For the life of me I don't know what they are talking about since I don't believe I have any outstanding debts that I am not currently dealing with. Based on what I have read this seems quite dodgy, with this in mind should I continue to ignore these 'text' messages? Equally I am not sure how they go my landline number!

Thanks for any advice in advance!
