i shall try and make my problem sound simple if i can!
i have lived at my present address for 14 years.i owed some accounts to wescott which were paid off in january 03.in september 09 i got letters from mackenzie hall saying i owed these accounts.so i rang told them they were paid in 03 and thought that was it as the man told me he had closed them.
i did a equifax credit check on sunday to find 6 searches done by mackenzie hall last september relating to outstanding debt.4 at my present address and 2 at my previous address of 14 years ago!
so i rang mackenzie hall on monday to ask for these searches to be removed and was told that they are unable to get equifax to do this as they are statuate barred accounts?:mad:i said it was them who had done the searches and the man told me i have to ring wescott to get them to do this!can anyone tell me what i need to do as i am not really sure if another company can request removal of the searches.i.e wescott ask for mackenzie hall searches to be removed.
just to add none of my reports have any accounts outstanding on them with either company or have any ccjs on them as i dont owe any money to anyone also i have had no further correspondance from mackenzie hall or wescott about theses accounts since the letters last year.help what do i do.
it looks really bad on my report that 6 searches were done in one day and it is showing the reason for searches is outstanding debt.equifax told me they stay on the report for 2 years i thought it was 1 year-it is with experian.
hope i have explained my problem well enough so someone maybe able to advise.thank you in advance.0 -
I too have received a letter from Mackenzie Hall this morning, searching for me regarding a personal matter and it has really uneased me. I am in debt, I know I have bills that I cannot possibly pay now due to a change in circumstances. My bank is over its overdraft again and the charges I get means that when some money does go in, a lot of it is lost. I would love to get myself straight but I just dont know where to begin. What can this Mackenzie Hall do to me and should I respond or ignore their letter?0

They can do sod all. They have been doing their thing for years. Never ever speak to them, dont write to them. They never ever will be able to produce proof you owe anything. They are lower than a snakes belly in how they operate. The Sun Hill Snipper really should have taken these vermin out yonks ago.0

18mths ago I got a letter from Mackenzie hall saying I owed a debt from 1998 I didn't owe this and took legal advice and was also told within the advice if I did owe this debt they couldn't pursue it as it was out of the Limitations period, anyway I wrote to them and told them that this wasn't my debt etc, and that a few years earlier another debt agent tried to get me to pay this debt and I sent them prove etc and they didn't contact me again, anyway today 27th July I get another letter wanting me to contact them again, I am at the end of my tether with them after the time I had with them last year and now this.
I am disabled, in and out of hospital this is the last thing I want to be doing is going back and forwards with these people, I have just emailed CCCS for there advice, but was wondering if anyone else had issues with these people, I would be grateful for any advice.

Hi,
I received a letter from MHall a couple of days ago and having not read this forum, I texted their 'immediate callback' number immediately to find out what was what. Two days, three repeat text requests for 'immediate callback' and an email requesting said callback later, still no contact.
I have no clear idea of what these chaps have got on me but after reading the forum, i'm inclined to ignore them from now on. I am currently debt free and have been for many years but I had a couple debts over six years ago when I was in a bit of a black hole.
I'd appreciate any advice as to what to do now, based on the fact that these guys now have my number via text and an email. Should I speak to them or just ignore all of this. (If they bother to get in contact that is......."immediate callback" indeed!!!!
Many thanks.0 -
