Mince Pies

Hi.
Does anybody have a recipe for an alternative mince pie. I love the pastry but HATE mincemeat. I found a Nigella Lawson recipe on the internet (see below) but i don't want to shell out a fortune buying ingredients. I would have to buy a bottle of brandy & port for this one, and would be a waste!
Was wondering if anybody else has any interesting recipes?
Thanks

Why not just make jam tarts and lemon curd tarts... rather than trying to find some 'alternative' to something you don't like.0
-
Why make mince pies at all if you don't like them? If you make them with anything other than mincemeat, they won't be mince pies.0

I've made the nigella ones before, they were a hit with the family. although I don't like dried fruit or mincemeat so I'm not bothered about them anyway! You could probably do without the alcohols, just use a little fruit juice instead of the port and omit the brandy if you don't have it. Sometimes you can buy the tiny bottles of brandy, would save you buying a whole big bottle you're not going to drink. Or ask around friends to see if they have any "spare", in return for some of your HM mince pies?
Other than that, jam or lemon curd tarts as suggested above. Or try making your own concoction with dried fruit, jam, and other things you do like. Or mini chocolate pies?

I agree with the above, why not make a nice apple pie or pear tart instead, the fruit is quite cheap at this time of year.
Add some sultanas and cinnamon if you want a more festive flavor. Or poach the pears for the tart in some red wine with cloves added.0 -
apples cooked in honey and a good dash of cinnamon is very nice and festive for a change I'm not mad keen on mince pies either although I do like those mince meat slices you get in the bakers ,but I have never made them very sucessfully0

I have a couple of boxes of left over mince pies from xmas. Can they be put in the freezer for a later date? rather than trying to eat them all up now0
