cousinjack wrote:I am quite a regular r+rer but up until now I have been relatively smalll fry but after I emptied shampoo into my phone this week i have been on the look out for a new phone.
Whilst on my regular patrol of a local store i happened across the 10% off leaflet and thought that I would try my hand at a motorola phone. I was, as expected, charged full price and after a discussion with the young guy on the till and the duty manager i had no luck. Head office is closed at the moment and I will speak to them tomorrow.
I have kept the phone for the time being but I am unsure what to say to HQ. Do you guys think I should just send an e-mail or ring first??
any help would be greatfully received!
I would definately phone them first...I sent an email a fortnight ago, kept getting fobbed off and only got somewhere today after phoning....0 -
I pointed out that the print for the expiry date was minuscule compared to the advertised price, but she wouldn't budge.
This sort of behaviour is what TS was originally created to stop - unscrupulous traders conning people - which is EXACTLY what Tesco is doing by DELIBERATELY leaving up misleading posters when they know they do not apply. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

isnt the price per kilo just that, I can't see how the size has anything to do with it (although the missus would beg to differ)
sounds like another in the line of just pathetic excuses to avoid paying up
they will be telling us that its global warming next.
Yes....but they say its a different price per kg, depending on the size of the joint.....
and I honestly believe that it isnt just one of their pathetiic excuses.....
I believe that they have INTENDED this...not deliberatley as a fiasco.....but to charge 2 different prices for very similar bits of meat......I cant see how the bloke who thought this one up, didnt realise that it would cause problems....maybe Constantine or someone else in the know can explain why they didnt forsee problems with this promotion.
Its the same in lots of stores....all the original white sels are still in place...but on different boxes....with slightly different size joints in them....
Only one box had the reduced sel on it....but the description labels on the product are the same.......and theyre only 18 inches apart0 -
Well hello all, 1st time poster long time lurker.
I used to be in retail so I have been following this thread with interest. It seams that the store will try and wriggle out of this wherever possible. The below is taken off the TS website
“It is illegal for shops to sell things at more than their advertised price. Our advice would be that the business should have a checking system to prevent pricing errors and ensure that any identified are quickly corrected.”
Possible gentle reminder to any uptight managers that they are in fact contravening the Consumer Protection Act, 1987. If the offer has ran out it is up to the store to remove the misleading SEL, not for you to notice the date which it ran out.
When you enter a store the retailer has no obligation to sell you goods until they except your money. Up to that point they may and can refuse any offer. Once you have entered into the contract and exchanged money for goods or services then you have a case if you feel the price you have been charged is mis-leading. So if at the time of you deciding to buy, the SEL was in place and it is still there when you make your case to the CS desk then under their own terms they should offer you an R and R.
Good luck and I may have a look for a few things tomorrow.0 -

Nice to see some good, on-topic chat here tonight.
I haven't posted here for a few days because of the arguments going on, I agree with those that say that the x-box discussions should be kept separate, that's what caused the problems.
Maybe those that are interested in the GOTW can post what it should be each Friday morning, on a SEPARATE thread, and discuss on there if it has a glitch or not. You could set up the thread this weekend, and add to it each week....someone please help to keep this thread x-box free?
Oh no, there will be a newbie along in a minute who will see those last 2 words and start asking about it again!:p
I have been to, let me see, 5 different Tesco stores in the last 2 days and have not found anything to R&R! Even the yellow SELS for the Ragu have all been amended round here, with a great big yellow patch covering up the wrong price. No wrong SELS for old favourites like Aeros and Wotsits.
Did get a refund from CS for a double-scan today though, it was right at the top of my receipt and the CS girl apologised profusely.....then I got home and looked at the receipt again. Near the bottom the cashier had amended the error, I hadn't spotted it and nor had CS!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes its nice to read different product reports rather than ALL consoles and games, but I think it is important that all RnR discussion remains in the same forum, otherwise we'll be having ones for phones, one for beef etc, (which is all I've talked about for the last week).
I certainly wouldnt support your request for seperate forums, although I wouldnt actively campaign against it.
I still have an outstanding case for Mr T to answer, and when I get a decision(either way) I would like to let the forum know of that decision.
Re newbies asking questions.... I think we should all adapt the same response..."Please read the first post .....and follow on until you get the info you need....."
I dont think we'll ever get away from the "show me how to get a free console" brigade
I hope you see this as constructive(not destructive) criticism......
Is the beef as described above, not 2 prices in your stores.....0 -
I only joined this thread on Saturday and the logical thing was to read through until everything made sense...bassman wrote:Yes its nice to read different product reports rather than ALL consoles and games, but I think it is important that all RnR discussion remains in the same forum, otherwise we'll be having ones for phones, one for beef etc, (which is all I've talked about for the last week).
