I use a credit card just for r+r when I can remember my pin if I cant and block the card like I did last week. I had to use my debit card which can leave me a bit skint some times especailly if there is a few really good items.
the credit card is easy its also easy to fob off the why didnt you notice when paying question that I have been asked a few times "I dont check the screen amount I just enter my pin" paying cash it can be a little more difficult.
Using the card is also a good way of getting out of the expensive items that scan correctly enter the pin wrong a few times and apologise and ask them to remove a few items and pay for the rest with cash or another card.
I dont know if tesco monitor tecards I use, I go to quite a few different stores anyway it would take a few people checking the thousands of records on r+r and payments to put them all together to build the case. I have been very lucky that no one has reconised me while getting an r+r but I have been followed round a store once.0 -
Can Tesco get your address details from your CC ? I'm tempted when trying for R&R items to pay by cash now and give fault details when asked for name and address. What does everyone else do ?0

Why all the subterfuge? Your'e doing nothing wrong.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
The Clubcard database has your name and address - otherwise where would they send your vouchers?
This info is handy when buying TVs, as you don't need to fill out the "TV Licence" form, they just scan the clubcard.0 -

As always Ben you are spot on - repeat R&R is not a crime.
There has always been some confusion over using Clubcards with a R&R.
I have been told that CS, when scanning a receipt - where a clubcard has been used - can - if they wish - request and see transactions associated with the clubcard.
However I've also been advised that this is not part of the official R&R procedure for CS staff.
So I think there is the potential for problems if you repeat R&R and use a clubcard.
From the CS point of view - if they are aware that this is your 26th mobile phone purcahse & refund this week they may be inclined to give you a hard time!
My advice is - don't use your clubcard - at least not all the time.
As for cash v card - the only problem you are likely to have is if you regulalrly hit Tesco for R&R the clearing system for card payments may think your card has been stolen and prompt the Till Dude for 'Voice Authorisation'.
And this will involve a trip to the CS desk - probably not too good for your profile if your next move is to then report the item as a mis-price!
But like I said Ben is right - you are doing nothing wrong - but ask yourself is it worth using your clubcard every time and risk losing that 27th Moto??
And if you are really paranoid - use cash and nothing else - cash can't be traced back to your identity or shopping habits!
Take her easy,
Duder0 -
Suggestion - Ease back on the paranoia.
Use a Club Card or not - up to you. Chances of anyone having the time or inclination to investigate an individuals purchases are virtually zero. Store staff have no access what so ever. Data Protection stops that.
Use a Credit Card or not - up to you. There is no chance at all of the store getting your address for their use, they can not even get the full card number as the information in encrypted. Data Protection again.
Use your address or not - but what have you got to hide? Giving a false address will posibly lead the store - rightly or wrongly - to believe you are attempting to scam and could cause you problems next time.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

The above bolded bit is slightly wrong. They can only see transactions associated with that particular store. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

I never said store staff.. I said Tesco...
I never mentioned CCs...I have no problem using my credit cards in store for this purpose. However, you can end up requiring authorisation from your card company if you buy lots of high value items over a period of days. This is down to the card company watching out for weird activity on the card, rather than Tesco.
Personally, I won't give my address, as I am not legally required to do so. It's got nothing to do with being sinister or trying to scam. I won't do it even if I'm just returning an item.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
