    This is wrong!
A leaflet is "Point of Sale" material. If it quotes a price for a phone and the leaflets are on display then they should honour the price!
What is the difference with the Xbox I got last week? That was a poster which is like a leaflet. Try again CousinJack!
I once took a leaflet from one store to another but it was current (not out of date as in the argument last week). They honoured the misprice!

If Tesco want to be very pedantic they can point to the exact wording of their policy which says "the price on the shelf". It's a vague term but it could be interpreted to mean only material which is affixed to the shelf like SELs.

But I agree they should give the customer the benefit of the doubt.

The in-store scanners at my Tesco don't work at present, shall I put a complaint in?
Also I used to work there so everyone knows me, do you think this will make a difference if I suddenly start r&r'ing? They already 'watch' me as I scan my coupons on self scan as they know I put tons through.

So far the store seems 'on the ball' with prices :( its quite small and everything is labeled correctly ... I'll keep my eyes open though !! :)

Another thing ... the Nintendo DS console, £10 off with certain game offer .... I went to get this today and the offer that ran out yesterday is still displayed - but they have run out of 'the' game. Any ideas? or shall I wait till next week ;) and see if they forget again ???

I'm not sure if this is 'dodgy' if so I apologise and will retract.....

    Ohh err....

Could you buy the game from another shop - take this into Tesco, pay for the game and console again - then claim R&R?

Just a thought - not a suggestion - like I said happy to retract if this is crossing the line - sure you legal Dudes will comment?

  • I do think there is a difference between posters and leaflets.

The display of posters is very much controlled by Tesco staff. Customers are just expected to look at them and absorb the most important information, such as the price of a product.

Leaflets are, by definition, designed to be picked up, taken away and read. Therefore, you might pick up a leaflet one day and go back a couple of days later for the offer mentioned. If, by this time, the offer has expired, Customer Services would be quite within their rights to point out that this information is in writing on the leaflet and that the offer therefore no longer applies. Personally, I feel that the expiry date of an offer should be in decent sized text, but then small print is another issue again.

In the case of the Motorola 10% off leaflets, they were clearly on display in the store, so I feel they should have honoured the price. Plus, in my case, the leaflet was just below the phone I bought and it was on a rack that was attached to the shelf. However, I still feel that the fact that the price was on a leaflet, as opposed to on an SEL or poster, does affect the overall strength of an argument for R&R.

Either way, as has already been said, if it doesn't work out for you, be prepared to walk away. You may be in the right, but in my opinion it's not worth getting worked up about.

If it makes a difference Hey Dude in my store they don't hold the xbox 360 games in their boxes, you have to take the case to CS and they get the disc out of a cupboard for you. Don't kno if it's the same in all stores.
  • please dont start..picking on people because of their grammer.....spelling.....etc.....

as i have stated in another thread when this happened......

at the end of the day.. we are all here on the mse site... to save money.. get out of debt.....and make sure we get the best deal we can find.......

on mse we are all the same..... as i said above... we are all here for the same reasons.. hopefully...

and dont forget......there could be some people on here which might have learning...reading...writting ... blips...
( which i include myself in this group )

but yet they are active in these posts.....

so once again......please.....no more comments ..about spelling... grammer..etc.....

Please don't tell people what they are and are not allowed to talk about - that is what the Forum Rules and Guidelines are for. Some people feel strongly about poor spelling and grammar and have a perfect right to do so. Others do not think it matters as long as content is understandable and this viewpoint is equally valid.

Was pleased to see the self-scanner working in my local Tesco (Town Centre) yesterday but otherwise it appeared pretty barren for potential R+Rs. It did occur to me that the impending influx of Christmas temps may be beneficial though.
    Can I help?
  • rdwarr fair enough we are intitled to our opinions which i have stated my view... but spelling grammer has nothing what so ever to do with dicussion with this mis-price forum......we are here to talk and air our views on our experiences with tesocs and their mis-price policy...

i personally have struggled over the years.... with spelling..etc....and to have a comment about such things is like some one saying you are stupid...and lowers your confidence.... unless you have been there or are there.. you will not know what we go through......

there are people from all back grounds etc on here... and we should not judge..or comment on personal things like that....that is my opinion....

    plus its off topic.......

so sorry for being off thread........

I love this R&R ing but never to seem to get much!
at near stage of giving up the ghost to be honest...stores round me seem to be very sharp indeed!

I've been reading these posts for about a month but have never succeeded in getting an R&R. I've found items where the SEL is dearer than the item's label and vice versa, also many items with out of date SEL's - but I always get charged the cheapest price:confused:
None of the scanners ever work so I can't use them.

I'd be really thrilled to get a couple of chops or similar for nout! but I think I have to admit defeat as it's costing me a mint trying to get an R&R!

So you buy it elsewhere, take it in to Tesco, get a refund, buy it again as part of a package with a console and then get that refunded as an r & r?

I'll have a pint of whatever the Dude is on :D
