Don't go down the pedantic route of correcting grammar in posts.
Why not anyway it improves the standard of English. Some of the spelling and grammar is very poor!
Are you not missing, at the least, a question mark in there ?
I agree totally with Cooltrickerchick.
As long as I can read the post, and follow the arguement or information it contains, I couldn't care less about the spelling or grammar.
Considering the 'text' language used on phone messages I am expected to discipher, the posts on here are PERFECT.
BTW all the scanners at the Tesco I visited today were out of action - apparently due to a refit of the store. Got a couple of R&R's - pointed out "I haven't been able to check the prices as all your scanners are broken ! :A "
Poker game still stickered £8.9x and scanning £9.9x
A lot of the large books still have wrong price stickers
Cds have different stickers on the same cd, and a diff sel.....but with no scanners and a couple of more definite R&Rs in my basket I thought I would err on the side of caution0 -
taxiphil wrote:If Tesco want to be very pedantic they can point to the exact wording of their policy which says "the price on the shelf". It's a vague term but it could be interpreted to mean only material which is affixed to the shelf like SELs.
But I agree they should give the customer the benefit of the doubt.
Looks like this could be a new slant that the stores and CS are taking.
I was refused a R&R yesterday as well because the poster and leaflets weren't next to the mobiles and the sign says shelf or product. The leaflet with the photograph and the price is not the actual product, although I suppose you could always argue that you don't actually get the product until you have paid.
They are obviously interpreting the wording to suit them.
I spent ages arguing with the store manager and a lady at customer services yesterday just about to email Mr Leehy and see if it gets me anywhere. :mad:Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

I found this in a back issue of Which magazine . And mcdonag, your'e going to take us back down a slippery slope with comments like that.
Supermarket giant <A href="http://www.tesco.com/">Tesco has been fined thousands of pounds for misleading shoppers about the cost of its wine.
The chain was convicted of two counts of giving misleading price indications, and asked for a further 15 offences to be taken into consideration.
Liskeard Magistrates' Court, in Cornwall, heard how a trading standards officer found signs at stores in Truro and St Austell which falsely claimed it was cheaper to buy a case of wine than six individual bottles.
The promotional signs stated: 'Case deal. Always cheaper than six single bottles' and: 'Six for less'. However, for four wine brands, it was more expensive to buy a case. These lines have since been withdrawn from sale.
Magistrates fined Tesco GBP 2,300 for each count and ordered the company to pay almost GBP 4,000 in costs.
Tesco should be capable of getting prices right
Cornwall's trading standards department brought the prosecution. Its head, Dave Phillips, said: 'A company like Tesco, with its sophisticated IT and checking systems, should be capable of getting its prices right.
'The magistrates have given their judgment and this particular matter is now closed. However, we will be working with colleagues in Hertfordshire, who interface with Tesco's head office on behalf of all trading standards authorities, to ensure that a similar lack of control doesn't happen again.'
A Tesco spokesman said: 'We reduce prices on thousands of products each week to ensure the best value for our customers. Unfortunately, on this occasion we didn't adjust the case price to reflect the new lower single bottle price.
'We have reviewed our process and re-briefed staff to make sure this doesn't happen again.'
Earlier this year, we caught Tesco advertising bottles of Wynns Michael Shiraz on its website for GBP 9.75 each, but trying to charge customers double after they'd already ordered it at that price and received an order confirmation.
The company's small print says that if it has 'underpriced' an item by mistake, it can change the price as long as it informs customers before delivery. Although our lawyers concluded Tesco's terms were legal, we told it that its order 'confirmation' was misleading if it wasn't really a confirmation of the price.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

It was meant to be a joke, surely we can have some humour on here, can't we? Chill out for goodness sake!!!

tiamaria wrote:I've been reading these posts for about a month but have never succeeded in getting an R&R. I've found items where the SEL is dearer than the item's label and vice versa, also many items with out of date SEL's - but I always get charged the cheapest price
None of the scanners ever work so I can't use them.
I'd be really thrilled to get a couple of chops or similar for nout! but I think I have to admit defeat as it's costing me a mint trying to get an R&R!
Why don't you try non-food items - cd/dvd/book or washing powder for example. Or non-fresh food....biscuits, chocolate, crisps etc.
Tescos will still give a refund on these if you don't get an R&R on them.
My suggestion would be:-
Check out the latest mis-prices on the other thread. Write them down. Before you go into the store check over the list and memorise 4 or 5
eg Wotsits, Genesis cd, Wagamama noodle cookbook, Dove shampoo bogof etc. (Try not to keep referring to your list whilst in the store  !)
If you think they ALL could be R&R possiblilites in your store, I personally would only pick up 2 or 3. Ofcourse then make sure you have already bought some 'normal' shopping. If you are successful - it won't look too suspect. If you fail with one or all then you can try and get the checkout operator to cancel one at the till, or return it to cs on another trip for a refund.
Successsful or not, next trip pick up the other 2 or 3 you didn't pick first time round. Meanwhile, check back here and find out WHY you wern't successful. Have you written down the details correctly, or has someone reported that that mis-price has now been fixed.
If not YOU post to tell US that you tried, but it went thru correctly.
If you don't find any of your initial 4/5, memorise another half dozen....all the time checking the thread for updates on new mis-prices as often as possible.
Personally I think a lot is just down to pot luck, but you have to be pro-active in making it easier for YOU.
Some stores are red-hot on getting their prices right - or removing the prices/sels altogether so you don't stand a chance. If this is your situation, try another store !
Some cs staff wouldn't give you an R&R if their life depended on it - so go at another time of day when the shifts have changed over.
Some stores (according to OTHER posters) are apparently SO full of opportunity it is like shooting fish in a barrel.
You can go weeks without a sniff, and then get your biggest R&R ever....thats what happened to me - only about £70, but after weeks of NOTHING I was on a high for days
Good luck, and if you are having no luck with LOOKING for R&R's, don't forget to double check your receipts for overcharges you were not even looking for !!0 -
Actually I was smiling as I replied thinking here we go again.
It's sometimes difficult to spot when something is said tongue in cheek. Mis understandings occur or are taken the wrong way and it starts the ball rolling.
Apologies if I offended it wasn't my intention.Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

hi Old Bag (I'm sure you're not really), thanks for your long reply its much appreciated.
I think I must just be unlucky as I've tried most of your suggestions & I was wondering if i was missing something.
I have tried with a DVD and a psp game, one with a higher SEL one with a lower SEL as opposed to the stickers. The game I remember was stickered £19.94, the SEL £19.97 but it went through at £19.94.
The meat items, I'm not sure I'd be able to argue my case with them as they have an actual price marked on them & the receipt doesn't say the price per Kilo & they go through at the marked price. One had an out of date SEL (2 for £5) but still the offer applied.
The Dove shampoo didn't work for me.£1.94 for 2, wasn't it? That's what I got.
One day I took a list of the most recent R&R's from this thread (about 15 items). Most of them I couldn't find at all, apart from the DS games but as they had no price sticker at all I was wary of trying that (after my previous failures).
There is only one person in my area who posts on here so I will look out for them posting again & maybe I will be able to report a success!! She/he says they can't go wrong at my local stores but I do:o I think they managed to get the Dove too.
I realise its not always a success but as I don't get any at all I'm thinking maybe I'm doing something wrong
You're right about me checking my receipts now, I can't imagine how much tescos have overcharged me in the past.
Thanks again for your reply.:D0 -
