Tesco misprice policy discussion area part 8

Dammit I didn't know it was optional. So when they give you the slip you can say no thanks and give it back?0

Take it back for a refund and live to fight another day is my advice. I have to say I always thought this one was not a 'definite' R&R. This is Tesco, there will be plenty of other misprices to get stuck into. :rolleyes:I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

And far more invasive.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I thought the Clubcard database only records your purchaes, and not your refunds and R+Rs (assuming they don't ask for your Clubcard when giving the refund, which they never do with me).
When they give a refund I don't think they're telling the computer who bought the item originally, just the fact that a valid receipt exists for it.
If my theory is correct, anyone looking through the Clubcard records of a serial R+Rer would simply have them down as a high spender, as they don't have the information available to see that most it got refunded.0 -

I agree with clasics on this one - it's a grey area and I think Tesco have legitimate grounds to refuse an R+R on the basis of the leaflet alone. Their policy actually says "if you were charged more than the price on the shelf or the product", and they could argue that the leaflet was neither of those. Although I do think they should still give an R+R as a gesture of goodwill since they shouldn't have left the leaflets up. I was lucky to be given an R+R on the same phone just on the basis of the leaflet alone, without even having to argue, but I put that down to having a good CS woman on a good day. R+Ring can be a lottery sometimes I'm afraid.0 -

Cousinjack, it's certainly worth an e-mail or phonecall to their CS dept. There are some really decent staff there (if you're lucky) who'll take your side. I'd argue very politely that you consider the leaflet to be part of the shelf pricing as it was on the shelf next to the phone you bought. It's a grey area, but worth a go.0

I find that one week a store can be spot on - the next there are mis-prices all over the shop.
Also find that different Departments go through similar cycles.
My advice - keep trying - see it as a game - if it's no longer fun don't do it - but you will find mis-prices sooner rather than later!
