Tesco misprice policy discussion area part 8

Trying to get an R&R is costing me a fortune. Am reading this correctly or am I just unlucky?
I bought..
DVD sel £9.??, stickered £13.??
Lamb chops SEL £10.98, sticker £11.98
Chicken breasts out of date sel,2 for £5.50
Strawberries out of date SEL says £1.69
However, they charged me the lower price every time so what am I doing wrong folks??
Also, with regard to meat priced per kilogram, it already has a total price marked on it so can we really complain if that's exactly what we're charged?0 -
mindysouthern wrote:I was a bit unsure yesterday about the meat offers as the price is per kg, there is a price on the meat and then the till scans as if the offer wasnt on making the price higher - is this right as i dont want to look a fool!
basically, if the price per kilo on the shelf is higher than the price per kilo on the pack/the price you're charged, then you're ok.
It can take a bit of arguing as the staff will get confused, but just keep pointing out that you've been charged the wrong price per kilo.
Make sure that you double check the product is the same as the one the shelf label refers to, as often things are in the wrong place and there are often several items with similar names.
Hope that helps!2015 comp wins - £370.25

tiamaria your doing it the wrong way round. The SEL is usualy the correct price you need to find stickers saying lower prices than the sel. You also need to find the scanners in the stores to check your items before buying them especially if your unsure about the scan price the scanner will tell you. If there is no scanner I have checked at checkouts and the pharmacy in the past, some people have used the self scan checkouts I dont know how they get away with it but they do.
not all out of date SELs will fail and result in r+r they sometimes continue offersand just dont swap the sel very quiclky. I will usually leave a bogof or 2 for £x.xx if it isnt somthing I normally buy.
The meat priceing is very dificult to understand but once you do its easy. the product will have a price saying £24.40 per Kg in the case of the fillet steak last week the sel said £20.40 per Kg as the pack is what gets scanned you will be charged per the pack.
so a 400g steak according to the pack will cost £9.76
the same steak going of the SEL will cost £8.16 that is how it works.
most people decide on what to buy by the per Kg price the SEL says its lower and you get charged more therefore misleading. I find it hard to force myself to go for meat as you definatly know the overcharge will happen and I dont know how to answer if they question this. the other thing they do with meats is the description on the sel and product must match and stuf can get moved arround so you need to be carefull getting meat.0 -

thats the wrong way round the pack price is what you will be charged not the shelf price so the pack needs to say more than the shelf.

Saw this in Chichester today, Old SEL still displayed. Didn't want it myself but thought i'd put it on here for another MSE to grab!

Just been to the chichester extra today around 1:30. Managed to get the philips external 160gb harddrive. I must have just missed you Shaz. Anyway they took down the old SEL but there are absolutely loads of expired SEL's on their mobile phones still. Get there quick & don't be fobbed off by the grumpy CS man who will try & use every excuse under the sun to get out of the R&R.0

Does anyone know if this is legal to void your warranty?
As R+R items are a gift it seems to me they can decide whether or not to give you the warranty. Arguably not to give it to you is against they're policy as they're then giving you less than what you would have bought. As for statutory rights, well Sale of Goods Act doesn't apply as you haven't bought anything.0 -
