  • well I think i have seen the last of my R&Ring in my local Tesco store....... Duty manager said it was her prerogative to over rule policy and if i wasnt happy I could write to the store manager, which I won't.

Of course i offered the same arguement as everyone here would of, but I was upagainst it from the outset. I got a my money back and told them I was very disappointed in Tesco (yeah, yeah!) and left the store. Although I was very polite and stayed very calm I think my profile is now too high to R&R in there for sometime to come..
Oh well you some you lose some,...

    :T

Quite agree with the sentiment of your post.....bl00dy annoying, but it is easy for others to say you were in the right, and that you have stuck to your guns.....but as most of us will know, with some Tesco staff there is no logic involved, nor intention to uphold the spirit of the policy. :p

Given time constraints, family commitments, and a natural desire not to make a complete spectacle of yourself at the cs desk for half an hour.....sometimes discretion is the better part of valour
And before this kicks off another round of which is the right ( or left) way to tackle Tesco staff refusing to uphold their own policy...this is my personal opinion, I do not criticise those who are prepared to stand there all day, those who go to TS, or those who chose to fight in court if necessary. I just haven't got the guts, the time, the will power or the energy. This old bag has more important things to do with her life, in her opinion....

Just a couple of thoughts though:-
1)If your store expects you to do their job for them and point out their mis-prices.....maybe you should charge them the going rate....say £50 an hour ?.....then maybe they will see a few packs of meat as a small price to pay for the same information.

2)If you don't mind passing on which store this was.......especially if YOU are never going to R&R there again, then maybe some of us can potter on down and see what we can see.....
....just a suggestion. I'm sure there are some on this thread who would relish the challenge !!;)
I for one will certainly make a note, and if I am ever in the area will make a special effort to call in on your local Tescos :D
  • Just found out about the Tesco misprice stuff and tried to get my partner to take me to Tesco's last night (12am), he was not interested.... (Can't drive at the moment as broken leg!)

Got him to take me tonight, with my vast list of stuff to look for. Took my 5year old cousin as she knows Tesco like the back of her hand as she goes with her mam all the time! She directed me to the self scanner to avoid embarrassment at the tills...

I was able to find a pink 2GB MP3 player that was priced at £59.97ish and scanned it, it scanned at £79 so I bought it with a few bits and pieces on the self service till. The guy went and got it for me and I went to the CS desk who sent me to the Electrics desk (partner hiding outside as embarrased).

The assistant said hed give the difference, I pointed to the poster behind him and he took £80 out the till and appologised!

    :TEXCELLENT MY FIRST R&R!:T

My partner decided it would be a good idea to go to another Tesco, which we did, no luck but was worth the try and I'm over the moon with my £80 MP3 player for FREE!

Same here, I love a challenge, and maybe this shop also needs a challenge in order to get motivated to put its house in order! ;)
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Arrived back an hour ago after 100 mile round trip to visit 5 branches.....success in all but one.....Had words with the duty manager in the first one. There were two prices on the shelf for Tesco Fresh Beef T/S T/R and SS Joints....One price was the original of £6.48 a kilo....the other was the reduced price of £5.18 a kilo.....I took the assistant to the SEL, and she said that she couldnt refund as there were two different lots on the shelf.....one at £5.18 and one at £6.48......I tried to explain that if the same product shows 2 differing prices, then the lower must be charged....anyway she wasnt having any of this so she called her supervisor , who in turn called the duty manager....in the end all 4 of us stood at the offending Beef....and the duty manager was adamant (new argument)that one was medium joints and the other was small(there was no mention of size on the SEL's.....however if I bought the 3 she would give me one free(along with my £23 worth of Lamb that was wrongly priced.).....So realising I wasnt going to get anywhere I told her I thought she was wrong, and would reluctantly accept her offer of the £7.50 joint free while paying for the other two at £4,50 and 4.60 each......I went from there to another store where I had luck with Sirlion Steak and Tesco Free Range Fresh British Turkey Steaks.....The Beef was also mispriced in that store as well, but didnt want to risk the steak and turkey, so didnt bother......Full RnR on both....left there to next store....Couldnt find anything except the Beef again.....again, there were two prices on the shelves....I took 7 pieces of the higher priced ones through the checkout(with some other goods), and got a full RnR off a young lad (after consultation) who was full of apologies....... for the same meat I was refused an RnR for at the first store............Ended up at my final store and got another 3 joints....and some more lamb as in the first store tonight....All RnRs posted on misprice forum...

Went out to look for laptops, phones, games consoles, mp3 players...but found none...infact there weren't even any on the shelves.....

Spotted a guy painstakingly taking every pack of meat off the shelves tonight and comparing it with the SEL's...his wife was standing looking bored rigid, with her trolly.....I asked him if he was RnR ing, and that I couldnt find anything in this store, and suggested he try one of the other stores in the area(where I had had some luck)........He smiled but looked blank......I wonder if he reads this forum......He should remember my comment to him.

Sorry....I thought I was logged on to the discussion forum when I posted this.....I'm sure redfox will forgive me this one, and swap it over in the morning.....

;) Maybe he was just checking the dates and the best piece of meat like my mam does!;)

Got full R+R (£99.97) on a Motorola Slvr L7 today - the SEL was actually correct, but the red leaflets were still on display which advertised 10% off all Motorola phones and expired on 3 Sep. I thought it may have been a tricky argument as it was based solely on the leaflets, but to my surprise the CS lady offered the R+R without me even having to ask for it!

Went 4 miles up the road to another branch and got another one R+R'd. This time the SEL still said £89.97. This one was a bit more tricky as the manager was hellbent on giving me the £10 difference, but after me reading out the policy on the wall about 6 times he finally saw sense.

Went to a third store, got another one, paid for the dummy box at the self-scan, then was absolutely gutted to find they were apparently out of stock, so got a refund but no phone. However I made 99 points on the deal which softened the blow.

    Still, 2 out of 3, and Taxiphil's a happy bunny. £584 of R+R in 3 days.

That's B0II0X your statutory rights are not affected by r&r and if I'm not mistaken it is actually an offence for them just to say they are, I'll have to check that out unless someone else can find something quicker than me that relates to it.

It's most unusual for me to defend Tesco, but I think they might have a point about the lack of warranty on R+R goods. Since a full refund was given, doesn't that mean the goods were a free gift? And if they were free then surely there is no contract under the Sale of Goods Act. I must admit I'm not sure on this one, but I'm just trying to play devil's advocate.

Anyway, couldn't we bypass Tesco altogether and go straight to the manufacturer if our electrical goods developed a fault? Or will the manufacturer refer us straight back to Tesco?

Hi guys just a quick one.....ive been lurking in the tesco misprice area for a while now and after seeing the eye-opening goings on (like the sig reading '£1300+ R + R since 10th July' ) its about time i gave it a go.

Regarding the scanners dotted around the shop - could i just check wether deals are scanning incorrectly etc and also the xbox 360 + game of the week - is this a nationwide thing? Im in Cambridgeshire.

Do you mean that you did 100miles purely to visit all the Tescos you could and hunt out the R&R's ?

If so, thank you........you make my daily 5mile round trip to my local to be just a stroll to the corner shop !! In fact today I've been to 2 diff tescos, one twice, and an Asda - all to buy Times ( and use up coupons before they expire:D ) Didn't have time to even think about R&R - not the finding of them, just the hassle of cs

Now Tomorrow......Tomorrow is another day ;)

    100 miles.....now THAT is commitment :p

Yes...unfortunately I was barred last week from my local for having dared ask for an RnR on a PS2 and game....the duty manager said it ws to much money to RnR........so rather than sit around waiting for word re that and wondering what might have been I went out tonight(last night) to see what was around........So yes the 100mile round trip took me to 5 branches(it should have been 9 but didnt have enough time)....and was really pleased with my £126 haul....it cost me almost a tenner in diesel and kept me off my laptop for 4 hours........As for hassle....a bit in the first store....but none in the other 3.....got nothing from the other one.....

By.......look at the time.....off to bed...
