That's funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing in Tesco today when I checked out their posters (they had the correct ones on display though!).

It seems from recent posts that they do have a Legal Dept, so why the heck don't they run their high-value offer posters past one of their Legal Dept staff? Anyone can see that the 'PS2 with Game' one was fatally flawed but even the others are ambiguous, which is a stupid oversight when they have their R&R policy! All they would need would be an asterisk and some t&cs to cover themselves.

P.S. Got the 3 Doctor Who books and a Jacqueline Wilson one today (as previously posted, SEL says £3.73 each, they scan at £4.97 each). However, yesterday I saw the correct SELS in a larger store so you just have to find the store with the lower SELs (and/or stickers on the books) and you can be sure they are still scanning at £4.97 at the moment.

Quote from freebird65 on the Misprices thread (should be on this thread really:D )

Aero chunkys - grabbed a couple and discount didn't go through. CS wouldn't do R&R as she said it was a different product - the packs were a different size and said "New Shape" on them. But after checking my receipt which said Chunkys and the barcode (matched), full R&R with apologies.

So keep an eye out - they may have new packaging - I've never bought them before so don't know. (END QUOTE)

I have had this comment before too, it seems they have changed the packaging and the shape of the bars. There are 2 (slightly) different-looking packs, different barcodes too I THINK. But I still got every R&R I have attempted on these, as they all scan as 'Aero Chunky' (so don't let CS tell you yours are not the right ones!).

The buying departments are far to smart and important to run the details past the legal teams or anyone who well.... has a clue :D I mean why waste the time as they could never possibly make a mistake!

    Ahem.

    Ahem.

The Buyers aren't responsible for POS material, though. I thought that was down to the Marketing dept?

It's time to make that change.

    Once upon a time, there were four people;

Their names were Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody.

Whenever there was an important job to be done, Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

When Nobody did it, Everybody got angry because it was Everybody's job.

Everybody thought that Somebody would do it, but Nobody realized that Nobody would do it.

So consequently Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done in the first place.
    Jim.

Its the commercial areas that come up with the offers though and have a significant hand in the pos.

Wording would be down to Marketing, though, surely? Who ever came up with the Xbox360/PS2/PSP POS needs sacking! Talk about leaving Tesco wide open to an ASA investigation.

Anyway, don't get me started on the Buyers at Tesco...they've caused me no end of problems in the past.

  • I think Tesco's are arguing that the console by itself is not wrongly priced, but with the addition of the game the discount does not come off the game. I can see their point

    thank you,

do you really think that such a big organisation such as tesco would be beaten in court by some of you guys? especially for a technical error which can happen to ANY human being or computer. And I am sure that as soon as tesco found out about their mistake they took the posters down and acording to their legal team r & rd in accordince with the law! If the overcharge was just on the game, then they are following the correct r & r procedure if they are giving the £10/£20 back and also the game, arent they??

Would you class any of the major UK banks as a 'big organisation'?
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
