Yes, and just as shocking is the fact he tried to do a purchase of several hundred pounds WITHOUT A CLUBCARD!!!

I have already reprimanded him via pm for this transgression and he has assured me the same will not happen again. :rotfl: :rotfl:

just had a phone call from HO about an hour ago....they are definitely not budging on the PS2/ XBox thing.

Guy said i could have R&R on the game but not on the console. tried to tell him my reasons why i thought i was in the right ie) i had a copy of the SEL, a copy of a receipt stating the discount applied to the package, and also the fact that some stores are still giving R&R on these items as they are STILL mispriced. He started to get a bit annoyed at this point, and said 'i suppose your one of those Money Saving Experts arent you? that website is always causing problems for us by telling the whole nation whenever a price is wrong and its costing us thousands' :rotfl: :rotfl:

anyway, upshot is i can STILL only get the game free. was worth a go i suppose.like someone else said....you win some you lose some. I'm sure there'll still be loads more meat out there when it comes to restocking the freezer!!

Go get your game for free, check your pm's also

Once upon a time you would have indeed received a full refund for the undercharge, sadly the policy was changed around two years ago to eliminate undercharges

Actually if you are buying something with the aim of R&R I would suggest that you DON'T use your Clubcard!
Given the behaviour of Mr T's private security force you don't want them to be able to put a name and address to your face, because they will demand return of your Clubcard and you might lose all your points.
If you don't use it and they demand your name and address for the R&R you can be economical with the truth.

Damn right its getting to me, Maybe I read it too fast and missed the important details. Maybe I should apply for a job in the Tesco legal dept. They seem to gloss over the facts too!

I would be interested in the views/opinions of Tesco staff on this as I have had it happen TWICE today, and no consistant attitude by Tesco staff
    1) I returned an overcharged item, which has lower price sticker on it, with correct receipt showing I have been charged a higher amount.
    2) I returned an item for refund, with correct receipt

In both cases the returned item now scans at a LOWER price than a few days ago!!
In both cases the receipt gives only the briefest of detail - eg book or cd, not a title or artist for example

In first example the cs virtually accused me of bringing in a cd with a low price sticker on, and a receipt for some other cd which was more expensive. It took quite a while to convince her that the receipt I had given her was for the cd I had brought in. Very reluctantly I got my R&R, but everything in her attitude spoke volumes that she thought I was a liar.

In second example I was stunned when the book I was returning for a refund scanned lower than the receipt - which only said soft backed book ( and this was a hard back btw) cs very pleasant, said it wasn't a problem at all and over-road the scanned lower price to match the receipt price. He didn't bat an eyelid, make a scene or anything, he was telling me not to worry,"they have probably reduced the price to clear stock" he reassured me !!

In both instances the receipt was for the EXACT item I was returning, which I had bought only a few days before.
My concern is that unless I return the item ( for a refund or R&R) on the day, and maybe even time of purchase how can I PROVE I am not being dishonest, as the receipts are so vague.
All the receipts carry bar-codes at the bottom, can cs not somehow get the details of my purchases on screen to prove I have the correct item with the correct receipt ?
Can Tesco tills not check what price an item was scanning at a week ago ? I know M&S for example can do this, and go back to when the item was first on sale

As for those doom and gloom merchants who will talk about "if you play with fire..etc" and "if you take part in a dodgy activity like R&R....", the second example was simply returning something for a refund. What crime, imagined or otherwise is that

The Only thing i could suggest in this instance is
Were there any other copies of the book or the game on the shelves with the incorrect price so you can prove you have not put the sticker there yourself?
I had this problem with sudoku game and i just showed the cs member of staff the 5 other copies on the shelf with the wrong price.

  • My store will not give a full refund on things such as BOGOF or 2 for £2 ect. They claim that I have been overcharged for the 2nd item only so will only refund one :(

I am sure this has been covered before - but cant find anything specific - what do you guys actually say when the CS say "oh but that SEL is out of date". What is the response to that, that works best? This is bearing in mind you act innocent about the R&R policy and say something along the lines of "oh I just read your if things don't add up policy and..."

I just say 'is it I never noticed' the expiry date on the yellow SEL is very minute.
I was once refused r&r because it was an old SEL (not a yellow one)unbelievable! but stuck to my guns as the point is that how can the customer be expected to know that and at the end of the day the price that the SEL advised me is the price I expected to pay. The average customer does not have the alleged powers of Derek Acorah!
