The way I understand it is that some stores are leaving out-of-date A4 posters on display which state which game is currently the "Game of the Week" (and I think it's a different game for each console). Hence if you find an out-of-date poster, the till will not take the multibuy discount off the game indicated on the A4 poster. Therefore you can argue that you're entitled to an R+R because the poster says the game you purchased is Game of the Week. Hope that makes some sense!

This is how I understand it too. My local store has the right poster up for this week. I'm going to make a little trip next friday and hope they haven't changed the poster, so I can try for an R&R.

    Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
How on earth can they argue now! That has blown thier argument completely out of the water.
Not only does it appear in the multibuy section saying xbox + Game, both items have an asterix next to them so that means the discount is off both marked items and not just the game, if it were just the game there would only be an asterix next to that.

That is not the purpose of the asterix. Can't remember what it does indicate - may be something to do with VAT - but it is nothing to do with multi-buys.

I thought the purpose of Asterix was defend Gaul from the Romans?? ;)

If memory serves me right, the asterisk denotes VAT has been charged on the item.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

    Is that because

    1) your store has had to cough up on an R&R, and has therefore taken steps to make sure the mis-price/R&R opportunity is removed
    2) Instructions from HO ?
    3) 'cos YOU know what the potential can be for 'customers' to benefit from this debacle, and so have made sure all the questionable POS "aint up". I wouldn't blame you if you did use info from this thread to make sure your own house was in order - common sense really !

    1. Nope, thankfully. Only problem I had this week was on Sensations Crisps (changed from bogof to 3 for £3...had so many stacks out one got missed :o )

    2. There was one, but had already done it.

    3. I started checking when the speculation started...would be kinda foolish not too ;) However, my PID people test-scan all offers on the day they start to ensure they scan correctly. Saves a lot of grief for a few minutes work.

Isn't it that there is no VAT on essential items (butter) but there is on non essentials (crisps). Hence Jaffa cakes being a biscuit (no vat) and not actually a cake (VAT)
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

My first R&R ;) in Newbury

PSP Burnout Legends bought a couple of days ago
    Sticker £19.94 charged £19.97
CS went to refund and noticed that the refund was for £19.94. Obviousl they have clocked on to the mistake. Still got R&R as I bought before price was changed!!!

I would be interested in the views/opinions of Tesco staff on this as I have had it happen TWICE today, and no consistant attitude by Tesco staff
    1) I returned an overcharged item, which has lower price sticker on it, with correct receipt showing I have been charged a higher amount.
    2) I returned an item for refund, with correct receipt

In both cases the returned item now scans at a LOWER price than a few days ago!!
In both cases the receipt gives only the briefest of detail - eg book or cd, not a title or artist for example

In first example the cs virtually accused me of bringing in a cd with a low price sticker on, and a receipt for some other cd which was more expensive. It took quite a while to convince her that the receipt I had given her was for the cd I had brought in. Very reluctantly I got my R&R, but everything in her attitude spoke volumes that she thought I was a liar.

In second example I was stunned when the book I was returning for a refund scanned lower than the receipt - which only said soft backed book ( and this was a hard back btw) cs very pleasant, said it wasn't a problem at all and over-road the scanned lower price to match the receipt price. He didn't bat an eyelid, make a scene or anything, he was telling me not to worry,"they have probably reduced the price to clear stock" he reassured me !!

In both instances the receipt was for the EXACT item I was returning, which I had bought only a few days before.
My concern is that unless I return the item ( for a refund or R&R) on the day, and maybe even time of purchase how can I PROVE I am not being dishonest, as the receipts are so vague.
All the receipts carry bar-codes at the bottom, can cs not somehow get the details of my purchases on screen to prove I have the correct item with the correct receipt ?
Can Tesco tills not check what price an item was scanning at a week ago ? I know M&S for example can do this, and go back to when the item was first on sale

As for those doom and gloom merchants who will talk about "if you play with fire..etc" and "if you take part in a dodgy activity like R&R....", the second example was simply returning something for a refund. What crime, imagined or otherwise is that
