Ive not had any luck getting PSP games this time, bit gutted as I have a PSP and can do with a few new games. Im waiting for Gran Turismo mobile.

As for the way people have been treated its a bit over the top being taken in to a room and threatened with the police, personally I would have called their bluff and wait for the police, what would they say to the fact you have bought some games which you were charged more for than the sel/stickers then tried to rectifiy this with CS.

Buying 5 in 1 go wasnt a good way to go about it, how many people will go spend £150 on games no where near christmas and they just so happen to all scan higher than the sticker. If I was going for 5 I would have bought 6 or 7, 2 that were good ad scanned corectly to throw them off the scent that all I went for was the free ones, get the r+r then return the other games to another store later which I did yesterday and today with a DS game. bought in stockport returned to great horton I did go for it as r+r but it scanned as per sticker.

Good luck with your quest of r+r just dont be so greedy.

Dont know if deliberate but my local Extra store's scanner has been temporarily unavailable for about 2 months now. Wonder if they dont want people checking prices. This store does appear to be on the ball though. The last time I looked any of the bacon joints priced at £3.30 had new labels over them and the other night they had cleared all the "mis-labelled DS and GBA games and put nice new "correct" SELS out. Although they are quick to rectify and pricing errors thye are also very fair on the R&R. Never had a problem.

My local is the same.... the new store opened just over 1 year ago and they worked for a couple of months and then stopped.

They worked again for a while but for at least two month now they just show please ask a member of staff

Must be a ploy to stop r&rs

Just as a little reassurance to those reading this thread over the last couple of days and perhaps not particularly up to speed and probably a little concerned.

The experience Gravy endured can easily be avoided, simply refuse to leave the shop floor unless by the exit.

Under the circumstance of r&r IRRESPECTIVE of whether or not you were aware or even sought out the overpriced item no offence has been committed, Tesco personel have no authority whatsover to detain you against your will. If they ask you to retreat/accompany them to another location you can be sure as hell it is for one purpose and that is to INTIMIDATE you, refuse tell them you are quite happy for the matter to be resolved at the customer service desk or from the comfort of your own armchair, if they prevent you from leaving or forcibly remove you to another location, seek immediate legal advice and then SUE THEM! After first having made a complaint to the local police for unlawfull detainment.

The only offences being committed are the unlawful display of advertising material and deceptive pricing practices. The first falling within the remit of the Advertising Standards Agency the second of the Trading Standards.

If you are unsure of what I say simply take a free thirty minute session from a local solicitor be completely honest with him or her when providing the details of what you are doing and follow that advice.

Trouble is there are so many mis-prices about at the moment. It seems impossible to get one scanning correctly.
I tried this scenario, buying one at correct price, and a couple of potential mis-prices - and was overcharged for them all !

I must say I personally think a lot of people are taking the mick with thie whole R&R thing. Sometimes odd tickets can get overlooked simply by accident and this policy was I assume brought in for this reason.
I have worked in retails myself and when you have got a pile of old tickets and a pile of new ones you can easily miss the odd few. It is not like they say you do that aisle then that one. They give you a bunch of tickets and you have to find the items.
I think if everybody continues abusing the system they are going to remove this altogether. You make them out to be such baddies when they question the people who are continuanally doing it yet other supermarkerts make errors yet are not expected to offer thi service.
I had a situation the other night, I know I joked about wishing I know about R&R but I was honestley just happy to be sold it at the ticket price,
I was always told when you are at the till you agree to the price being charged then.

A private citizen can lawfully arrest someone whom he or she has evidence to suspect is committing, or has committed, an arrestable offence. Caution is required when arresting someone who is believed to have committed an offence earlier, because if it turns out that the arrestee's actions did not amount to an offence, the arrest will have be unlawful. A private citizen can be authorised by a court to carry out an arrest under the authority of a search warrant. Finally, anybody can lawfully arrest a person who is unlawfully at large. A person carrying out a lawful arrest can use reasonable force. If the arrest turns out to be unlawful, then any force used will amount to a criminal offence and may also give rise to a claim for damages.

This is the crucial wording from Constantines post above for anyone interested.

Well DD your certainly entitled to your opinion but I think if you look back over the misprice thread which has been running for over a year now you will see that we are not talking about a "few" errors here, a closer look will give you an insight into some of the tactics being deployed by individual managers to avoid complying with their obligations.

I work in retail (albeit NOT Tesco!) and yes they are allowed to take anyone' s picture if they think they are "up to no good".
I think you'll find this is incorrect as it breaches you right to privacy under the human rights act. The police can only do it (i.e. pubwatch, shopwatch etc) if the person is convicted of an offence, and even then it has to be proportionate to the offence.

No they are not allowed, as has been said numerous times in this thread.

I know that Asda do it (as did safeways, the local asda and safeways even swapped the photo books between them) as well as Toys R Us (who also have the illegal policy of banning travellers (not an 'official' policy, of course)).
