surely... t.s would only be interested in the over price... not tescos personal policy of r & r...( i might be wrong )
and would be interested in that side of it...

as for the police... they might have said it was a personal /civil matter... and no criminal act as such has been done... as you did pay.... and now only trying to impliment mr t.. policy...as they might not get involved...

also .. what is the legal meaning of the word fraud.....?

yes you know you are going to be over-charged... but also....tesco know that... they is an on-going problem with games being mis-priced... and not updating their pricing system quickly... to correct it...or send out memos to stores.. once r & r's are logged...

so is tescos commiting fraud by mis-leading us when it comes to pricing.../over charging....

i personally would have kept my gob shut... and asked for a lawyer...

    as our biker moto goes...

treat me good ..and i will treat you better

treat me bad.... and i will treat you worse...

Bit of a story to tell...
He then told me my pictyure would be circulated around all the stores in the area and that i was banned from his store.

The words act, protection and data spring to mind. I'm not sure if applicable here, but certainly worth looking into.

If they are storing "personal data" about you do their systems comply with all the necessary legislation/legal requirements to ensure that data is secured from unauthorized use?

AFAIK they are NOT allowed to share your picture with any other store (or even take your picture) unless you are a shoplifter. And there is NO WAY they could ever get a court of law to convict you of shoplifting in an R&R situation.
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Back onto the Dreaded Xbox360 Topic.
Had a letter from the ASA Advertising Standards Authority today. They are going ahead with my complaint (Much to the disgust of some members here I expect!) Tesco H/O have not given me thier Final answer yet though so I have asked ASA to hold off until they do, if I am Refunded then the complaint will be withdrawn.

This might be completely wrong, but those waiting on the xbox/ps2 (not me - I don't really need one).

When you buy something from Tesco's you are entering into a contract - a contract based on their advertised promise. Their failure to honour this contract is therefore a breach and you may be able to sue them in the small claims court - i'm sure they'd love to see you there. Also, if you paid by credit card, the credit card company are equally liable so you could sue them.

    Just a thought ....
    Jim.
  • @ gravy173, sorry to hear of your troubles. I stopped R&Ring for awhile because I hated the confrontation that I had in my local store.

However, in the last 2 days I have had around £55 worth of freebies from Mr T although the one refund I got today the CS was abit arsey with me and after being followed around my local store for "daring" to hand over money off vouchers at a till I am trying to stay low under the radar.

I had an unpleasant experience too. Thankfully not quite so heavy handed. I bought 5 PSP games and had the manager come and see me. He was politely intimidating and told me that I was abusing their policy. I said I'd bought lots of food in the past which was R+Rd and no one ever complained.
He said he believed I was deliberetly defrauding the company (he may have a point there!) but I held my ground. He gave me the games but said if I ever tried to defraud the store again then he'd ban me from the store. I asked if this meant I could never claim R+R again from that store and he only said that if he believed I was defrauding them. How he decides that one is any one's guess!
Can they ban people from stores without some sort of court order? Also found out that they are not willing to give more than their first name to customers to make a complaint. He had a very common name.

TBH, I'm an R+R virgin and found the whole experience very unpleasant. I'm still not sure if it's put me off or provoked me into becoming a serial R+R'r!

I work in retail (albeit NOT Tesco!) and yes they are allowed to take anyone' s picture if they think they are "up to no good".
Secondly I think some people are getting a bit greedy with R&Ring and eventually Tesco will abolish this policy, so let's all be reasonable - 4 or5 games consoles or half a dozen games at a time are just taking the p**s a bit!
